Make the items it drops untradeable them. -_-Does people really want to see claim botting rise again? Seriously?
If they do something with Open World content it better not be something like claimable mobs and camping spawn points because then you can forget about getting claim on them unless you are also using a bot. Getting claim on a particular HNM once every few weeks if you're lucky (and then getting it to drop) is not my definition of fun.
And everyone knows SE is utterly lethargic when actually *punishing* botters. They can do it for years and get away scot clean, monopolizing any and all of those pretty NM/HNM drops.
As long as the NMs don't drop gear to oust raiding though, it should be fine. Maybe cosmetic things like pets...oh wait~!
Other than that, get used to raiding! It's a much better alternative to standing around for hours only to see that botting linkshell get the claim on KB/Faf once again.
What I'd really like to see though is some form of open world PVP. Alas, the chances for that are null as we didn't even get any designated PVP servers. Bo~oring.
There was a thread in beta forums about reintroducing NMs.
It got almost 3k likes.
They said no.
Let it go, because man, it's gone.
Even Sword Art Online have rare items. Elucidator, Demon sword gram, Ragout Rabbit, etc. Why do players hate rare items so muchThe only thing I guess that would be consider rare in FFXIV would be Allagan weapons currently.

I think we should go straight back to FFXI style NMs and SE should pony up and do their job and take care of these botters. Also, people who are sad and get out claimed... Well I think the response should be... SORRY... claim faster. Enough of this 'everybody gets a gold medal' mentality. It makes for a dry tasteless game.
Morticous - Senior admin of.... well of nothing. (cool picture here)
There's a game called FFXI that offers all this type of content. Maybe you should go back to playing it.
The majority of the people playing FFXIV don't want NM/Sea/Sky or anything remotely similar to FFXI.
Whichever the content that fits better for this game, for me its weakness is the social aspect of it which struggles to immerse me into the world. I would have any type of content in the open world that meets that requirement![]()

I'd say that's impossible to get away from, including the FF series mechanics that most games in the series share also, like jobs :x and btw, NMs still exist in FATE's (NMs aren't going anywhere), plus Sea/Sky were storyline areas that happened to have farmable end-game NMs, i am almost certain zones that are like (not exactly alike but similar) Sea/Sky will end up in XIV

Sky nor Sea were never in FFXI at the beginning though - they were both areas added in expansions, and even then, were added in patches after said expansions had been out for a while (plus they both had restricted access, in the fact only those who had progressed through said expansion pack storylines had access to them).
What Morgan seemed to be meaning was players don't want something that is cut off from the main game and which becomes nothing but a virtual playground for elitists, bots and RMT to camp. It goes against the design brief for this game, which is accessibility to all, and I hate to say it, but the design of Sky and Sea in FFXI was anything but accessible. I'm glad that nonsense has been done away with.
