This really just points out the current issues in Yoshi-P's vision for ARR, in that the game is far too streamlined. Leveling 1-50 is just a race to get to the end with very little memorable content in between (other than discovering some linear dungeons and unlocking your job). For the most part, gear just enhances your basic stats, as well as some combination of accuracy, determination, skill/spell speed and critical hit rate. What happened to gear that enhanced abilities or had some other unique modifier? Removing elemental weaknesses was a horrible decision as well, all in the name of streamlined content. I'd love to see a return of ability-enhancing gear, or more of those items that would give a steep increase in hp, crit, accuracy, etc. at the cost of the usual vitality, mind, or whatever basic stat for the class/job that can wear them.
