Very good points!!! I don't know how many times people are like "GTFO, YOU NO HAS GEAR!!" FOR A FREAKING EASY FIGHT!!!And this is different than any MMO how? If you don't have the best gear now your considered bad. Find me a SMN running around in spell speed armor and lets have a discussion on what the general community thinks of this person.
You know the difference between XI and XIV? Your going to have to totally replace every slot every 4-5 months because that gear is now totally invalid. So when you spend 4 months farming those BiS legs and a week later they are worse than group gear. Come back and tell me how you feel about this subject.

you're definitely not reading it right. effort is fine, currently you need to gear up then learn mechanics to complete endgame. this is effort. you also need to grind up to lvl 50. also effort. but waiting for up to 72 hours or a week while spamming a macro to target the nearest mob or spamming your map while subbing an illogical job for widescan is not effort. i have a fulltime job and while i appreciate difficulty (eg darksouls) i dont need this game to become a 2nd job. i dont want to state at my screen for hours until something pops.
now if u currently sit around all day and nms would alleviate your boredom... maybe take up a hobby instead. try paintball or arts and crafts or kayaking or something sheesh
Nothing in this game requires effort. ._.
Need gear? That's fine spam this faceroll dungeon for tokens
Leveling? That's fine spam these faceroll zerg fests aka fates
Anyway if you don't want something to become a second job then don't camp the bosses, you seem to be fine with how this game is now (no bosses worth camping) so if they did (They wont) why bother with it?
I dont understand why people get so scared of competition or feel they should be able to get something that someone else worked hard for, for little to no effort.
I get it, you guys don't want bosses that drops the best gear, no one is even suggesting that. It's not hard to create multiple sets in the same ilvl range. That way farming bosses is completely OPTIONAL.

Amen. "Crap it's Friday and I need 150 myth to cap"
/switch to scholar
/summons pet
/queues for roulette
/autofollows tank while fairy does the work and I spam physick to look like I'm being important in this super hard dungeon. and watch a movie or play FF tactics on my phone.
It's super hard Faedden. I have to do this for a whole 3 hours a week to cap myth and get raid gear!!!
Exactly and it's funny because the proponents of "hand everythign to me on a silver platter this model is fine" actually have to deal with this MORE because their gear turns to complete shit every time new content is added.
"Hardcore" MMOs (in their opinions) like EQ and XI.
New expansion comes out? Ok my raid gear is still better than group content time to go work through the new raids and replace my gear.
EQ I literally change gearsets once a year. XIV I will likely have gone through 3-4 sets of gear by the end of the year because they will make what I'm wearing crap. But apparently the people who want everything handed to them also want to have to hit the destroy button on it every 3 months for fun.

Omg that is so horrible! They make you put forth that much effort and here are these horrible people suggesting that add open world content that requires a brain...How dare they!? I don't want to have to compete against others and actually put forth a tiny crumb of effort.
Is this why no one likes Pharos Sirius on roulette?

It's a combination of a lot of things but it's mainly thanks to the mentality that only dungeon gear matters and crafted gear will never be better. FATEs are mostly the same as NMs without the claim wars which might be the main draw for some people but the majority would really do without, the thing is they're also lacking relevant drops which is funny because the system for FATE drops is already in place, it's just been limited to two rare spawn FATEs and even then their drops are all for vanity at best, oh and I guess it's also been used recently for daily quest drops that are only useful to complete those quests.
This could be so easily fixed by giving other FATEs a chance to drop crafting mats or even just aetherial gear if you really want to lock relevant gear to dungeons so badly, they could also give them a chance to drop an item that lets someone spawn the NM for themselves or their party levequest style, make that special spawn item U/U if you really want to limit their farming, and also by just making levequests relevant or adding challenging stuff like the old faction leves, or I guess more involved for lack of a better word if you really want to go with the "no it wasn't challenging just time consuming you're wrong everything 1.0 sucked" route.
Then of course there's also the issue of lack of difficulty thanks to most FATEs being just oversized versions of regular mobs and all of those being designed specifically as trash mobs that offer no real challenge only having 3 abilities at best.

I don't mind the Fates I just wish they added higher lvl areas that would challenge i90 geared folks with i70+ Fates, I would be more than happy with that.
AGHHH!! I miss that game so damn much!
^ players like this one from this thread are the reason why, SE listened to them.
