New to Turn 5, any advice?

So Ive been pugging T1-4 for about a month now sense my static broke. We never ended up getting into T5. I'm i90 and pretty much have given up on getting BiS before 2.2, but would like to at least clear T5. However unlikely it may be with a pug group, I would like to try.

I normally build my T4 groups and was just looking for any tips on party build (Obv Sch/Whm and such things). I know about the 4,400 minimum hp, but other than that I'm pretty much in the dark. So any advice from a tanking perspective and group building is appreciated. Ive watched Mr. Happy guide several times and Ive read a couple guides so I know the mechanics to some extent, but there's always the little things like how often certain mechanics come up you only get from running. In particular Im interested in how groups normally handle the dive bomb phase.

To those that will think or say "Static," unforunately my schedule between work and other activites doesn't allow me the ability to make a consistant time or day of the week. Trust me, I would if I could lol.

Edit: For any researchers out there, I'm workin on conj next to get SS <.< I'm terrible I know lol.

It is difficult. I would recommend watching videos and getting a static group to down it. It might even take you several days/weeks before you can manage raid awareness, CD manipulation and group mechanics as a whole. It just takes practice. There are plenty of good sources out there....TO THE INTERNETZ MOBILE!!!

    A few tips for Offtank:

    - People should be good with about 4000hp. The more the better, but it's honestly just there to absorb fireballs.

    - I run Warrior/Paladin. Warrior main tanks Twintania (it's generally better) because he can have a damage cooldown up for EVERY Death Sentence. Paladin off-tank can stoneskin him as needed.

    - Scholar is the main tank healer. Every death sentence during phase 2 and beyond puts a healing debuff on the MT that absolutely neuters White Mage. Lustrate bypasses that, and makes a War MT/Sch MH beautiful.

    - For your job in Phase 1, it's pretty simple. Pick up the beginning 3 adds, and offtank as needed.

    - During phase 2, switch to Sword Oath and DPS Twintania/Conflags. Throw Stoneskin as needed on the Warrior.

-During phase 3 (Divebombs) you will be picking up all of the Hygeias (Small snakes). Flash does this wonderfully. Flash until you're out of MP (Or if your Bard is ballading, until you feel like it) and then Start doing your Riot Blade combo on Asclepius for MP. You want 800~ for the next set of snakes. After the last divebomb, run to the opposite side (Pop Rampart as you run) to pick up the next two snakes. Shield lob one of the new snakes, then Provoke + Shield lob the other. As they all gather, Flash constantly and pop Sentinel/Bulwark. It'll save your WHM some panic, but you're going to take a lot of damage. The first two should die quickly to the LB, and you'll be in the clear. You can use Hallowed Ground if you want. This is probably your most in-depth phase, so sorry if it seems like a wall of text.

    - Positioning the snakes for the LB. You and the MT should look like this:

    (MT)<--Asclepius-- (You)---->Hygeias x4.

That set up will make it so asclepius gets hit by their debuff, but the MT isn't. It takes positioning practice, but that comes with the Territory of Twintania. You will have 4 stacks but it's no problem. After the Hygeias are dead, you switch to Sword Oath and DPS her down. Once Twintania comes down, back to Shield Oath and get in the Collar with everyone else except the Main Tank.

    - Phase 4, easy peasy. You have to dodge Twister. Focus Target Twintania and put it in the very center of your screen. I don't use any programs to dodge Twister. They're pretty consistent in timing. Expect a Twister in between every Dreadknight, and during every other Dreadknight I do believe. As long as you have the focus target up, you'll see it coming. Watch videos on how to dodge.

    - For Dreadknights, they always come down in the center. Make sure you have Sword Oath up for this phase. As long as you are #2 in emnity on Twintania, you will never be targeted by the Dreadknights. You can Stun them 3 times before they become immune to stun. The first Shield Bash lasts 6~ seconds, the next 3, and the final 1. That means you can get 2 GCDs after the first, 1 after the second, and it honestly should be dead by the third. If you have a Blackmage in your group, Lethargy and Blizzard 1 slow them down to a crawl. Literally impossible to wipe to them unless someone was too close to the center when they dropped.

    - Phase 5 is even easier for you. The SECOND Twintania drops her 3rd Collar, run into it and stay there. She'll drop exploding eggs on your head that should be targeting other party members, but won't because you'll be there to eat the explosion. I stay in Sword Oath to help DPS, but you don't have to if you want that extra mitigation. I've never been targeted by fireballs in this phase, but if you do you should have Hallowed Ground up. It won't last the full duration of the firepools on the ground, so you might need to move out of there. Other people should be near their own collars, so if you have to ditch yours they still shouldn't die to the egg. Keep Stoneskining the main tank while you're eating the eggs.

That's really all there is to it. The hardest part of Twintania for the offtank is picking up Snakes before your DPS pulls them off of you, and positioning them. Sorry for the wall of text. Practice, practice, practice. You need to practice the mechanics. Dodging divebombs, having Twintania's focus bar in your peripheral vision to see Twisters, etc.

If you need help dodging divebombs:

    - 1.) turn off nameplates/healthbars of party members/pets.
    - 2.) Turn off ALL sound except Main Volume and I believe System Sounds. Anytime she uses Divebomb you should hear a beep. That's a queue to run.
    - 3.) You should be AHEAD of your WHOLE party when dodging Divebombs. the game has a delay in other people's movements. If you're with your party/behind your party, it means they're all ahead of you and you're getting hit with Divebomb. You should ALWAYS be the first to move on your screen.

Wham bam thank you ma'am. Spend a couple of hours in DF practice groups, or your own static.

    - First thing first, HP minimum for Turn 5 is not 4.4k, if you plan to put on HQ 70 melded with VIT, trash that and put on level 90 instead.
    - For Drive Bomb phase, if you watch Mr. Happy guide, I recommend you do normal way first since its already easy, Normally we stand at bottom of V shaped hill located west of the map.
    - I recommended you go option -> Character configuration -> Display Name settings -> Look at "Display Name" option -> select "Hide", This way your Names on your head will disappeared include others member in PT. Make your life easier when you need to dodge Drive Bomb.
    - To dodge, you simple stack together like you guys are fusion into one piece and run to left side together (must be stacked well together or its not work because its will hit everyone)

To those that will think or say "Static," unforunately my schedule between work and other activites doesn't allow me the ability to make a consistant time or day of the week. Trust me, I would if I could lol.

    - Then its really unfortunately.

    - SS is useful, you should get asap lol

Thanks for all the info!! that's awesome things to know. Quick question, is it the norm to have a single MT and OT and not rotate, I know DS puts some kind of Debuff starting in the second phase. Wars just take it?

Edit: I see your info on Lustrate, which answers that question

Yeah with the 4.4k I was referring to party building for other classes. Thanks for the dive bomb tips wasn't sure if everyone did the group method like the vid I had seen or if that was the exception.

To add to Curcio's advice for Snakes:

Once the small snakes are all dead, and the big snake (Asclepius) has 4 stacks on him. When you are DPS-ing him, and you feel that the damage boost will help, pop a Mega Potion of Strength HQ. To give you an example of the effect, for 15 seconds your attacks are doing at least 200% more damage. My regular crit with Spirits Within on Sword Oath + Fight or Flight is about 400 - 500 damage, but after the Mega Potion of STR HQ, I crit for 1.8k.

It may not be totally necessary, but I simply see it as an investment for a successful clear, much like food for raid.

As for the dive bomb dodging method described by Altimis, it's in the Blue Gartr world first kill video. Basically you stand in the ditch on the right side (west) of the map, then run up and down for dive bombs.

Cross your fingers and hope your group doesn't die 500 times before they figure out how divebombs work.

Turn off names. Turn off HP bars. Turn off all battle effects including your own. Tell everyone else in your group to do the same because it was too hard for SE to make a great encounter without making it a pain in the ass by letting important HUD elements get masked by spell effects. I mean that is sort of a rant, but it's really disappointing for me and doing it will make you and your group better at turn 5.

You cannot depend on the sound that a divebomb makes. It's a wonder that the icon that appears above a player's head right before dive bombs appears every time.

Set Twintania as focus. tell everyone else to do the same.

Death Sentence comes out like every 30ish seconds, usually after a Plummet.

Pay attention to who goes into the conflagration. If it is a healer, you should probably pop a cooldown unless you are using a tank swap strategy.

start moving when twintania casts twister. she will do it pretty much right after aetheric profusion. try to run in sort of a circle around the area you are in.

A lot of things can happen in the last phase of the fight. It is easier than everything else in the fight, but it is also easy to wipe to. You can get slammed with a lot at once. On my first kill I got Liquid Hell twice as the MT. If you get it, just stand there until 5 of them drop and move out. Use a CD if you have one.

Wallow in self pity and cry.

Then find a pro group who just happens to be looking for a last to temporarily fill their group

4.4K HP for the tank or for the group? I'm confused O.O

4.4K HP for the tank is tad too little isn't it. If for the non-tanks then I don't think that's necessary, my raid has been running at 4.1K lowest (mages). I think 4K is the min but that's a bit borderline.
