Poor Customer Support - Upgrading to Collector's Edition + Steam Store

    Hi,

Not sure if this should be in this area of the forum.

I have the standard PC/PS3 versions registered to my SE account. Rather than pay £15 for an upgrade i thought it would be better to download the Collectors edition through STEAM for £17 and have FFXIV in my STEAM library and register the code for the bonus items.

The code cannot be registered this way and the only way you can upgrade is by paying £15 through the mog station. All be it this is not stated anywhere on the SE website or STEAM store, SE will not do anything about this.

STEAM refused to refund me (understandable) and after speaking to a very rude call taker yesterday SE will not do anything to help me with this problem and the response i got over the phone was "unlucky". SE refused to honor the in game bonus items even with a brand new unused collectors edition code being given to them.

For anyone that plans to upgrade your account to collectors edition THE ONLY WAY IS THROUGH THE MOG STATION

I have requested that this information is displayed on SE website or the STEAM store, from scrolling through STEAM forums i am not the only person fallen victim to this.

It seems the customer service offered by SE for FFXIV is very poor.

    Regards,
    Alfie

Ok you already have the PC/PS3 version so why would you want to pick up another copy that cost more then the upgrade does when the upgrade the only thing you looking for?

I think you're barking up the wrong tree... Steam version is controlled by Steam, where the keys are purchased/licensed in bulk from Square-Enix, which when a Steam user purchased, is then entitling the Steam user to use the license to play.

Also, it is stated on Steam FFXIV page.

Notice: Includes 30 days of free game time for all newly created service accounts.

As an avid user of STEAM games i like to have all of my games in one place, a STEAM library with all my games in (From reading the STEAM forums, a lot of XIV players shared this view). Upon starting FFXIV it was not available on STEAM.

When i purchased FFXIV on STEAM i thought it would be better to get the collectors edition, so i would have the bonus in game items.

What you have stated is correct that STEAM provide me with a registration code for the collectors edition, which was supplied to them by SE. My main gripe is that SE will not imburse me with the collectors edition items when i have clearly purchased the collectors edition legitimately. Even upon offering SE the code over the phone and proof of purchase they still refused to imburse me with the items and the calltaker said i was "Unlucky". I do not understand why SE cannot provide these items when i have legitimately purchased the collectors edition.

I don't want game time? I would like the bonus items. This does not explain that the only way you can upgrade is by paying £15 through the mog station.

The reason for this thread is to highlight SE's poor customer service and to inform other players that you cannot upgrade by purchasing the collectors edition on steam. As this is not stated on the STEAM store or SE website.

A lot of people on the STEAM forums share this issue as FFXIV was not available through STEAM initially.
