dose anyone miss the old way of lvling up insted of fates (plz read)

What exactly prevents you from making a party and just head to a zone with enemies that are 10+ levels higher than you and start murdering mobs?

Because mobs are set up to automatically link on everything if you try pulling them on a party, meaning it's impossible to 'camp' them. Plus mobs are also leashed to a specific spot so you can't pull them from a long distance like you used to in FFXI. And the exp you get from a mob that's ten-twenty levels higher than you is just the same as the exp you get for a mob that's ten levels below you.

Hence, although nothing is indeed stopping you from doing an old-school FFXI style exp party, it's not worth it really in the long run, even assuming you can find people willing to do that - especially when it's easier to just do FATEs for the same exp and get a bonus at the end too.
