Your killing the crafters off why?

The strategy about making craft-able armor stats and such no higher than the beginning rewards in Coil is hurting the game. It seems that the prices for craft-able items is hitting the floor. The people that were fans are now leaving the game because the time invested in all the crafting and such has been wasted, It is kind of silly that one dungeon run will get you a better piece of gear than the best you can craft after investing months of work in your crafting system. I think the strategy should be revisited before more give up and walk away. The rewards for the Luminary completion and level 50 quests are also a joke being that they are the same who was the bright mind behind that?

I have to say that i agree with you somewhat. I do understand why SE went that route not wanting crafters to corner the market with the best of the best, top end gear, but the current state of crafting is just sub-par. I started the game to craft and experience a crafting system that looked to be unique and offer something more than just being forced into endgame content to gear up well. Instead i find a beautiful crafting system, that realistically, forces me into the PVE aspect just to make gear to walk into a raid with. I suppose I could even work with this too, but with the current 'content' patch, and battlecraft leves actually being pseudo viable, the influx of the exact same gear i craft on the market is extreme. Crafting is being totally wasted and realistically, is pushing me to another game.

Someone who was a fan of this game only because they could sell crafted gear on the market for 5mil wasn't really a fan in the first place. If they like playing crafting/market simulators, there are plenty of other MMOs that accommodate that playstyle, but this was never intended to be one of them. If it was, they wouldn't allow one character to level all of the crafting professions, would have had cross-server economies, etc.

    That is precisely correct.

Incorrect, FFXI had this system. It was hard to craft, once there were plenty of crafters there was no cornering the market. Prices stabilized and it was pretty even. Cross server economies is not needed.

I will elaborate for the simple people. It was not to make 5 million on the market but that there was a market that goods sell, because they are worth crafting.
You level a Goldsmith and you make rings and a neck to sell so you can make other things or not. But wait you can now run a new dungeon that awards rings and neck pieces that are better so I guess there is no market for your goods. I guess you could make an Armor-smith but wait there is no market there either. I was suggesting they fix this

Plus you level up while doing those dungeons...
Sorry crafting needs to be better, especially if you are required to use components that are gained from only doing dungeons.

As it is now there is NO reward for effort. The amount of gil you get from selling has dropped to about zero except for selling stuff that isn't found in dungeons that is better. This is the crafting and gathering. For anyone who says otherwise really needs to look at what is selling because obviously your not looking at the market, probably because you have no need because you get better in dungeons. So STFU because you know nothing about what is going on.
As it is now the crafting and gathering system is in a spiral down as more and more master crafters with level 50 in all crafting classes leave the equipment buying market. Soon it will be a purely materia based market.

Yea, it's tough to make money crafting, but there are always people looking for lower level gear and weapons, myself included.

Before I re-rolled I was a LV 30 WVR and made almost 100,000 Gil from selling lower level HQ gear. IMO that's not terrible, could be better yea, but it was a good way to make Gil.

I think the main problem is that people are jacking up prices for most gear, making people seek out stuff from vendors instead...

didn't read every one of them but I see a lot of good ideas in this thread. that being said let me tell you what I think is really going to happen in 2.2 to make crafters relevant.

    1. mythtome cap will be removed
    2. mythtome crafting items similar to philotome crafting items(peacock ore, coke, etc.)
    3. ilvl 90 crafted gear recipes.
    4. raised ilvl gear drops T6+, leviathan x(100-110)
    5. everybody who wants to be happy will remain so... everyone who likes to complain all day will continue to do so.

I don't care about making 5 mil per craft. With that said, this is somewhat incorrect. This game started off with having the best crafting system I have seen in any MMO (and yes I've played a lot, starting with UO). And not just because of the actual action of crafting, but the fact that crafters could do events (Hamlet) and were originally considered a class on equal level with the DoM/DoW classes (questing). They even had plans to get crafters in raids. And were going to have us build airships for airship battles.

They have really thrown everything out the window that made crafting unique and above and beyond any other mmo and have turned it into an afterthought.

For those who love crafting and came into this in 1.0 (or even 2.0 with info from 1.0) it is really really frustrating how they keep pushing us further and further to the side.
