If players had a good source of income wouldn't that hurt RMT more because players wouldn't feel the need to buy currency since they could make it at a decent pace. It doesn't matter if it makes sense to us, it's up to them, high level fishing isn't good for anything because fishing has always been good for RMT business, they removed the gil drop from the beetles in Wanderer's Palace because it was easy to farm, and thus attracted RMTs, their strategy for dealing with RMTs is make it harder for them to get their gil, then make gil only good for vanity in game. Crafted gear is useful up to a point, but in the end, dungeon/primal gear will always outpace it, gil is used for housing, the vanity slot system will be somewhat of a gil sink, pretty much anything that doesn't involve advancing content wise in the game you will find gil useful for, limiting the market RMTs have .
