Why aren't the developers taking advantage of the leve system?

I often see people complaining about the leve system and lack of open world content. The leve system has so much potential, but after lvl 50 the leve system is practically useless, so why aren't there more options for end game leves?

For example, I believe it would be great if you could group up with a party and do leves directed more towards end game content.
    - Group up with friends (4,8,16,24)
    - Travel to area together where the leve is commenced
    - Spend a certain amount of allowances to participate in the leve.
    - Depending on how well you execute your chances of getting powerful/rare items are increased

Some of these could include very difficult boss battles with chances at obtaining very rare items, or even leves that consists of several parts and eventually lead to a powerful confrontation.

I feel something like this would greatly enhance the leve system, and also solve a lot the problems with a lack of open world content that's actually worth doing.

I'm not sure if it's still around now, but back in the early days of 1.0, you could "link" leves if multiple people had the same one.

I mentioned this in other threads, but seeing how I have all my classes/jobs to 50, I no longer have a use for exp. SE needs to implement some sort of system to where you can still earn exp past max level, but utilize it towards something else, similar to how there were merit points in FF11 or how you could use skill points in GW2 as currency. That, and/or award tomestones from certain leves, especially since we're supposed to be losing the weekly Mythology cap in 2.2.

By the looks of this older trailer, it's how things used to be.

It is still ingame, but it give you no bonus anymore.

Some level 50 group leves would be really good. Like "Operation: Crosseye" from 1.23

Maybe at 50, the EXP you would get for the leve would be converted into gil. If a level gives you 5k EXP and 500gil, if you do it at 50, you get no gil, but 5,500gil.

This would be really easy gil, and anything that makes making gil easy they shun away from because of RMT, back in the 1.whatever days they used to grind leves, so they pretty much took the gil incentive out for 2.0. Just another thing we can't have because of RMTs.

The OP is onto something here. This really does have a lot of potential, and you could create high level/high man content here.

    Great post! +1.
