    Paladin

    Hi there,

I recently bought this game on Steam so I'm new to all this, I have a question regarding Paladins.

My Gladiator is currently lvl 29, alsmot 30, should I stick with Gladiator till I reach lvl 50 or can I get the lvl15 Conjurer and start the Paladin quest? Will I miss anything by not reaching lvl 50 gladiator first?

    Thanks

Your soul stone which lets you switch between gladiator and paladin will increase your overall stats. Ideally you would want to have it as soon as possible once you reach lv30.

As for the paladin quests... For me, I was lazy and waited until lv50 to do them. But I didn't see any hinderance overall for skipping those quests for later.

All in all, yes, get your paladin first.

OMG! Please do NOT follow this advice! This person either did the fate grind until 50 and there by had to play catch up in learning to actually BE a tank, or was just a suck-ass tank in all the dungeons.

Do the quests as they come up. You get good stuff for most. Lvl 40, you will get shield oath which is one of your best tanking "weapons". 45 they GIVE you 4/5 pieces of your AF gear, which is the best available at that level.

Take a chill pill lol. I was playing as a first timer in FF14 back then, so I just do all the main scenario quests without regard of anything else.

To be fairly honest, you can't mess up anything even if you TRY. The main dish to at lv50 anyway. The low levels before then are just teasers.

There are actually people with innate talent to play a tank class without having to go through numerous dungeons just to learn. I fate grinded my way to 50 and I'm doing pretty okay

PLD at 40 got "shield Oath", this is a toggle buff that will reduce damage deal to you by 20% and double you aggro gen. (it also reduce your damage deal by 20%). you might have issue keeping up w/ DPS if you dont have this skill.

It will be easier (in my opinion) getting the conjurer first so that you can do you "Job Quests" as you are leveling and also so you get to learn to play your Job and use your skills in a timely manner. If you plan on doing dungeons as you level up as well you will need some of these abilities to make your life easier.
    1. Sword Oath at 30 (Increases the potency of auto-attacks by 50.)
    2. Shield Oath at 40 (Reduces damage received by 20%, while lowering damage dealt by 20% and increasing enmity)
Shield Oath really helps you hold "HATE" and keep the mops you are pulling "in line". If you wait to get all these abilities and then start to learn Paladin tanking at 50 you will be behind the curve for sure. As another side note if you wait until 50 you will lose all the XP from those 4 Quests. You will also go 5 levels without the benefit of you AF Gear that you get at level 45 PLD only...cannot get it as Gladiator. Get the Job...plain and simple.

Definitely get the Paladin Soul Stone at level 30 - and try to learn to like CNJ, as you will want to get it to level 34 for their skill "Stoneskin" which you can cross-class as a Paladin. It the PLD's best cross-class skill!

Another reason to get your paladin quest first is that starting at 45 i believe you get a very very nice chain quest that gives you sexy and powerful armor.
