Im going to put my response on this thread from the other...
What was the difference with XI? When you died you got a 5 min break. but if you was a healer or tank the entire party took a 5 min break. Adding sp loss solves nothing but adds more problems. If nothing else the great possibility of an idiot or tech problem screwing your time invested over. I can understand there needing to be a stronger penalty for death but sp loss solves nothing.. As i stated in my previous post they can make it optional so all who feel this should happen can get all their sp loss thrills.
edit: I was never afraid to die in XI and wouldn't be in XIV if they added this stupid penalty. Whats the point though? For a more severe penalty? I wouldn't give a hacker my password and i don't want idiots being able to screw me over when they feel like it.

Countersign. Noooooooo!
I think the progressive punishments for successive deaths is well done and is a finished product that needs no tweaks. When you penalize death hard, people perseverate on not dyinginstead of winning. In their desperation they turn to elitism and lowball tactics that guarantee wins. Ranger NM kills. Manaburns. Loldrg. Lolthf. Brd brd Sam Sam war war.
Xp loss for deaths can not happen in this game. I'm not doing the whole buffer **** again after hitting 50.
lets phrase it this way, does anyone think losing ranks is fun?
This is one of the perfect reasons for not having it. I guess the people wanting it are the ones that created the lowball tactics or favored the classes used in them. I loved drg so yea loldrg was very annoying years for me...Besides the other horrible reasons its a bad idea.Countersign. Noooooooo!

simply, no, thanks.
This is realy what i'm afraid of and sadly it realy looks that way.Wow, I gotta hand it to Tanaka. People really do want a game handed to them on a silver platter. No challenge, no incentive to do well. From the responses I'm seeing in this thread, Tanaka would have done well to just make everyone invincible, and start at level 50 and have all quests completed.
Seems like the new player generation wanting games to be easy as hell, if you are looking at the game industry in general.
I will definitly quit the game (even if its for free) when they dont ad at least a feel of a decent challnge to the gameplay.
Playing to reach Rank 50 and not for actualy having fun seems to be the major opinion though.
Does anyone think fighting a battle where you can only win is fun?
Does anyone think fighting with people who dont care what they are doing is fun?
Does anyone think not caring for ppl dying is fun?
Apparently (and sadly) it seems so...
then make the fights harder, not the death more of a pain.
And than again you have nothign to loose but time. (and than again only if you solo duo)
For me its certainly not heroic (or epic if you like), when time is my biggest concern while fighting.
And as it is now you can die hundret times in a party when you have an addition DD or Healer...
