Why do people hate on tanky healers?

I ran with you doing one of the primal where you got the black unicorn. I think it was Garuda X. Don't think anyone really cared about your healing until someone checked your gear and pointed out that you were using tanking accessories. Then the complaints kept coming. Guess it was more perception then actual performance since we killed it anyways.

To give them the benefit of the doubt, a WHM shouldn't need to cast more then Stoneskin and Regen on the tanks, Cures on DPS who take unneeded damage, any tank damage can be healed by the SCH or Fairy since it's minimal at best unless it's in Sister Phase. Garuda Ex is a very easy fight for healers and there's many times where Stoneskin alone will pretty much add 3+ more DPS (both healers in Cleric Stance and PLD using Sword Oath).

This still doesn't justify using tanking accessories since the extra mind will convert into more DPS while in Cleric Stance

A big reason why hardly anyone brings 2 healers to that fight anymore. Even solo healing it I have a lot of time to throw DPS in, it's only the sisters phases which require a decent amount of healing.

This proves that healers ( especially whm ) can do a dps's job while dps cannot do a healer's job.
Now i wonder how a party of 7 tanks and 1 healer would turn out? xD loooool

In this game dancing and survival are the main challange. The "healing" is very easy.. if you just stay alive. Tanky build ftw!

If you hit a required threshold, there's no reason to go for higher HP. Once you hit 4.4k HP on any job that's not a PLD or WAR, then any extra is supposed to be bonus from getting your natural BiS gear, there's no reason at all to gimp yourself just so you can stand there and take hits when you don't need to.

i go ahead and use a tank ring because i don't have another healing ring yet. It gets me over 4000 hp where i would have 3600 something. people don't notice, they think i'm more geared than i am. It's pretty helpful in surviving big aoes. Vortex ring of fending, so i also benifit some from the crit and det on it, so i feel it's a pretty good item to use in place of a real accessory.

I feel that if you're dying as a healer, you either sucked, or had your tank sucking. Either way, you took aggro or didn't dodge properly....I prefer an easier life with stronger heals every heal I set, than an easier life once every month cause I had been lazy and made a mistake (or had a lazy tank who made a mistake).

Dancing is more difficult than healing. This whole game is tuned around your ability to dance. Healing is easy... very easy if everyone know how to dance. Many encounters could probably be healed with 1 healer... as long as he stays alive.

I'm not talking about wearing tanking accessories. I am talking about occasionally melding +8 vit for nearly another hundred HPs instead of a miniscule gain to a tertiary stat...

I'm usually in the "let anyone play how they want to play and have fun if it works for them" camp, but:

1. OP's manner of speaking (typing) is atrocious, immature and occasionally disrespectful (the response on the last page about the lol thing for example).
and
2. This thread is titled "Why do people hate on tanky healers", people then proceed to give OP an answer, and then those answers are stepped on, all with the air of someone that does not care about that answer in the slightest.

Which tells me:
1. OP does not actually care about the answer to the question asked.
and
2. Likely only made this thread for attention or to laugh about the contention that it is causing.

Play however you want, but understand that if that playstyle is considered a detriment to the group and mostly self-serving, that you will get criticism for it. And even if you can handle your job despite it, that doesn't make that criticism not valid.
