    Question regarding PS4 version

I know it's a bit early, and some of these details may be not yet cleared, but I was wondering if people could fill me in on these questions:

    1. Does the ps4 version start with the same patch version as the PC (say, 2.2), or starts fresh from 2.0?

    2. When players transfer their accounts from PC and PS3 to PS4, are they basically switching platforms or do they start from Lv.1 with some extra perks?

    3. Can someone buy the game disc in US and play on the Japanese server? The game seems to support multiple languages and even displays other player's system language.

    1. Starts at 2.2 obviously

    2. They are "just switching platforms" and all character data (currency, levels, items on inventory, items equipped, ...) that are stored server-side on SquareEnix servers remains the same regardless of which platform you're playing.
Only real thing that "changes" is your hotbars/HUD placement/configurations (which are stored client-side) that all will be at default positions/configurations.
This is exactly the same behavior you'd get from playing FF14 on another PC or on another PS3.

    3. Yes you can play on JP servers if you have an NA disc/digital license of the game.
But unless you are quite proficient on reading and typing in japanese, you really shouldn't play on JP servers.

I'm afraid I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with this statement. I play on a JP Legacy server (Selbina/Ridill was my server I started 1.0 on so I just stuck with it), and I have no trouble finding English speakers there (I'm in Australia and the JP data centre is closer to us than the US one). And even then, I've found I've had no trouble communicating with Japanese players on the server either - a lot of Japanese people can actually speak English after all.

And before you pass judgement not only were the 1.0 servers all located in Japan, FFXI has also only had a Japan-located data centre since it launched in 2002 with no problems. Really, there's little difference between the JP and NA data centres other than latency, so really it's more about trying to find the one with the most stable connection that should be dictating your choice.

To tack on to what you've said, there are 2 JP servers that have become populated by mostly english speakers from the oceanic regions. These servers are Tonberry and Masamune (Legacy server). Most of the people I meet on Tonberry speak english and the only place where I meet a large number of JP players is in the duty finder.
