it depends what class you play, * i asume * since 1.18 has the auto attack stuff on it, 1.18 leans more torwards the DOW classes, 1.19 probaly will address DoH and DoL, im glad to hear the good news from bayohne, this make me want to get back to cooking so that by 1.19 im r50 and have a chain of restaurants all over eorzea!

    Cook on brothers... cook on!

Very good to hear! ^^ Even tho i liked how creative current food system is, its extremely annoying to use. I would love to see a mix of current one with full effect and the affinity ways shown somewhere.

    I'm a riot.
Just for the record, food is a big issue. Maybe not as large as the entire battle system, but it's relatively unfair for a class to get shafted a bit because no one uses their craft. (Not enough anyway.) And why? Because they don't matter to players.

Why? Because no one in game knows what they do. They have to check other sources. Even if they did know what they do, it wouldn't effect their stats enough. Then they'd have to look at OTHER sources again on how to balance your stats appropriately to get a proper buff or the best buff. And then? Even WITH an optimal buff, you barely notice a difference.

That is a whole series of problems right there and cutting out a large portion of the game. From gatherers keeping the materials, to the crafters doing the craft or even selling the food, to players using the food for all aspects of the game, etc. That is a system itself that is severely damaged too. Don't sell it short. It's not a 'bigger fish' at the moment because you look at it in it's current state. Nearly meaningless. And that is a problem.

    Sorry for the rant.

I have to agree that an entire class being almost completely useless is....a huge deal.

    Hi Eldaena,

I totally agree. My friends and I noticed this problem from Open Beta and posted about it numerous times early on.

Even in FF XI, it's absolutely *baffling* why any design team would think NOT listing what an item's stats are is a good thing. My favorite example is if they applied the same principal to other categories of items in the game. Imagine if Armor was the same way as Food Items now:

    * Iron Haubergeon: "Favored by sea-faring Lalafells everywhere, this suit of armor looks menacing..."

    with NO Stats shown. (~_~)

    It'd be ridiculous.

Hopefully when they finally revamp Food and Food Descriptions, we'll finally have a burgeoning economy developing here. It's not just Culinarians. It affects every class. There might actually be a demand (by cooks across Eorzea) for Chicken Breast or Marmot Steaks, or some of the 200 different Spices that get dropped by creatures and gathering spots across the realm.

And eventually adventurers in Eorzea will start getting an interest if they can clearly see what they're eating / drinking right in the Item Description:

    (random examples)

"Oh, a Dodo Omelette gives me +3 Magic Accuracy. Cool."

"Nice! Buffalo Sirloin Steak gives me +5 Strength."

    etc.

It'll be a good day for the game, for everyone.
