That's cool, your luck is better than mine then. I never played FFXI so I can't really compare FFXIV to it. If I've made it sound like I want them to get rid of challenges or group content that was not my intention. I do enjoy getting into big battles and seeing all of the different spell and ability effects going off. I just think it'd be nice to have the option to play through the main story solo if someone wanted to. This option might even alleviate some of the complaints that numerous people have made in regards to the Duty Finder queue wait times, not that this change will ever be implemented though.Yes...many, many times. I've also had many volatile groups that trudged through the dungeon to completion. I'm also the opposite of you. I want more and more difficult group battles for story-line content. FFXI nostalgia consumes me sometimes, and that's one of the big reasons why. I thought pre-2.15 Good King Moggle Mog was pretty well tuned.

giving an option to do solo from start to ends defeat the philosophy and the goal for Square Enix have set them self.
The reason for this gated is to make new mmo players to learn the ropes, giving them option to Solo like they did in single RPG does not coincide with the goal they are heading.
constructive enough for you?
What I think would be fun in a 1-2 player content line is something like Chronicles from Rift. Give us some 1-2 man versions of endgame 8 man content like Coil (or Meridianum/Praetorium, or LoA, etc), or even "prequel"-like story content with mechanics that challenge a solo or two person party. Drop in some endgame relevant rewards and bam - you've got one more thing that people can do on their off time. More stuff to do is always good.

wouldnt work, even if you could enter a dungeon solo, the trash mobs being your lv isnt what you would have problems with, almost every boss fight requires multiple people to perform specific jobs such as examining water spouts befor adds spawn, or hitting switches to spawn bombs to explode the boss, or shooting cannons at a dragon i the window, etc etc.
Because the toxic behaviour of tanks with DF shows this is an entirely fun way to have to unlock gated content.I disagree. I get that it's not entirely uncommon to make an MMO where you can solo the world and don't need help from a single other person to make it through the main game entirely, but I don't feel that every game needs to be that game. That you might need help from other players in order to complete your goals, or can help others to complete their goals because it's too dangerous for players to conquer by themselves is part of the appeal of an MMO, and I don't think that necessarily needs to only apply to a few "end game" dungeons.
Yeah, really.

I hope there comes a time in the future when people stop telling others to go play a single-player game. It's perfectly valid to prefer solo content in FF XIV over any single-player-only games on the market. If this person wanted to go play another game they wouldn't be here on the FF XIV forum making suggestions.
I've tried shouting for mates(this was pre-PF), DFing, doing it with FC. Haven't had any issues with either mode. Infact made quite a few friends with the shouts. Rarely hit a really bad DF. As for FC as 2 people were trying to rush I was locked out at the last boss... But ok... sat there and got a free win hehe.
Now-a-days with PF and setting the right flags there you could find groups that fit your playstyle. And do try to find a FC friendly to your play style. I'm lucky to have found such after 3 tries. We have people that will primarily try to help others with story content - getting them groups, helping directly etc, we have people that are focused on end content etc organizing that etc... Finding such a FC is helpful for so many reasons. We have people in a ton of different timezones at that yet we still manage to play together and there are people around most hours of the day that can help.

perfectly valid to destroy a game that aims towards the end to do Group Content, and OP asking to get rid of that. Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaa.I hope there comes a time in the future when people stop telling others to go play a single-player game. It's perfectly valid to prefer solo content in FF XIV over any single-player-only games on the market. If this person wanted to go play another game they wouldn't be here on the FF XIV forum making suggestions.
But that is the whole point of a mutiplayer game, to play with people.I hope there comes a time in the future when people stop telling others to go play a single-player game. It's perfectly valid to prefer solo content in FF XIV over any single-player-only games on the market. If this person wanted to go play another game they wouldn't be here on the FF XIV forum making suggestions.
This is like asking for a third person mode in an fps and when people say its silly replying with "i wish people will stop telling others to go paly a third person game"
