Hey guys.. why don't you try just opening the market board screen or initiating a craft? Amazingly the afk timer disappears.. I think there are bigger issues to fry than the afk timer.

Nope, afk timers are there for those just that, afk'ers. If they remove it then others will just stay on for the hell of it. Just because YOU (allegedly) pay attention and are actually waiting for something doesnt mean everyone will. If youre really just waiting around then it shouldnt be a problem to tap the forward key every now and then to stay logged in.
Please SE, Remove them now!
Check mod post history. They already said they have no plans to remove this about a month ago.
If nothing else at least make it so it so that duty finder nullify's the timeout like npc's and the market board do. I agree with OP that I like to take care of things around the house while I wait for it to pop (I also turn the volume way up). It makes it nice to multi-task.
Oh, it's this thread again. =X
For Achievement? Yes
And there are lv 50 treasure maps in the open world (not instanced)
SE should just remove the timer and put it back on 4th april (PS4 version launch).
No
SE expect that you do other things ingame while waiting in the queue

Foxclon: So i was wondering, after you sign up to join a party, do you just sit and wait?
Yoshida: Where's the fun in sitting around waiting?
Foxclon: Well, I figured it's okay if the wait isn't too long.
Yoshida: Even still, that's such a waste. You can do quests, craft items, or gather materials while you wait. Whatever you feel like.

So you do fates at lvl 50?
Odin and Behemoth serve what purpose after a handful of kills for vanity?
There is NOTHING in the open world of value once your 50. The entire game is based on instances.Faedden is right. elite mobs, open world dungeons, raid bosses in open world, rare NMs for loot
Don't think we should have to go to such measures to prevent AFK.
My solution would be just to extend the timer by 30 minutes, or even make it like 2 hours or something. Just for people who fall asleep at keyboard or something. Or leave their game on while they go on vacation, its understandable that they want to avoid this.
The afk timer needs to be longer than the average dungeon queue.
Im at 34 minutes as a BLM queueing for CT as we speak, luckily Im messing around with the housing stuff.
Or just don't go AFK. Do crafts, farm stuff or finish some quests.Don't think we should have to go to such measures to prevent AFK.
