Because getting up every now and again to go into said room and press one button is that difficult? If it is, I'd venture to say you have more important things to find issue with than AFK logout timers. As someone who enjoys watching TV in another room and turning up my volume while waiting for a queue, Id like it removed because when you queue as a dps or as anything for pvp the queue can sometimes take longer than the AFK logout timer permits. Does SE just expect us to sit there by our screen while waiting for these ridiculous queue times?

trying to avoid being harassed but I'm just posting some advice o-o
When I sign up for duty finder I click on the duty finder to open the box with your status and such and time spent waiting, drag it to the top left and open firefox. Then I shriiiiink it just enough to have a clear view of the box in my peripheral vision. That way I can be on youtube or read comics and such until I notice the box disappear in my peripheral vision. I don't know how your peripheral vision works but this works for me. I rarely NOT miss the box poofing. This way if I do happen to be waiting more than like 10 mins at least I'm entertained while waiting :3
Edit: And I randomly jump or something if it's taking way too long so I don't get booted~

I just craft or gather or do beast quests or FATE grind another job while I wait for queues. But that's just me.

Hey guys.. why don't you try just opening the market board screen or initiating a craft? Amazingly the afk timer disappears.. I think there are bigger issues to fry than the afk timer.

Don't think we should have to go to such measures to prevent AFK.
My solution would be just to extend the timer by 30 minutes, or even make it like 2 hours or something. Just for people who fall asleep at keyboard or something. Or leave their game on while they go on vacation, its understandable that they want to avoid this.
The afk timer needs to be longer than the average dungeon queue.
Im at 34 minutes as a BLM queueing for CT as we speak, luckily Im messing around with the housing stuff.

Or just don't go AFK. Do crafts, farm stuff or finish some quests.Don't think we should have to go to such measures to prevent AFK.

Nope, afk timers are there for those just that, afk'ers. If they remove it then others will just stay on for the hell of it. Just because YOU (allegedly) pay attention and are actually waiting for something doesnt mean everyone will. If youre really just waiting around then it shouldnt be a problem to tap the forward key every now and then to stay logged in.
Please SE, Remove them now!
