    I want the game to look like that ^

    I see no problems with textures, I would really have to nitpick with some lenses to find anything wrong with it, as a matter of fact my game looks better than any of the pics posted here.

    I have no idea why, but I have spent a lot of time fiddling with settings, all i can say and also sweetfx .

    They are only Funcom MMOS that ever looked great. I mean, heavy textures come with a price, which is storage space. Since PS3 support is still around and no dedicated pc engine, you won't have these superb high textures anytime soon.

    They did it for FF XIV 1st Edition.

    And it failed pretty badly.

    Other than that whats the deal with low res textures anyway, lightning effects is the important thing here. We re in 2014 and Pixel Art games are also still a BIG deal. Not everything have to be top notch on the pure technic side.

    My game has decided to stop saving my settings, even when run under admin. Sweetfx either crashes for me, or just doesnt go into effect.

    It's an aesthetic clash. Pixel art games don't need to look particularly good because they can more easily pass as a 'art design choice', which they often are. ARR goes for a realistic look, though, and that's why pixelated textures are a bad idea: they clash with all the other aethetic choices. If you go look at a wall in Ul'dah or at your character's face, you don't really notice the pixels the same way you do with armor. Maybe if you zoom real close to your face you'll notice the pixelation, but for your armor? Go put on a dalmatica or a cowl and look at the pattern. Or with the Darklight cowls, too. If you don't notice the pixelation with those, then you probably will never see any pixelation ever.
    If you want to notice the difference, you could go look at Minecraft texture packs. Find one that is 16x16, and then find one that is 64x64. Tell me you don't notice the difference. You don't even need the game, since texture packs often come with screenshots.

    Also, they could give high resolution texture support for the PC and the PS4, even if they can't do that with the PS3 because of its limitation. There's nothing stopping them from doing that.

    Overall I would just like to see shadows massively improved along with lighting, specifically tree shadows and how shadows jerk across the floor and walls as the day passes.

    SweetFX can enhance the overall display , making the game sharper and more colorful


    but i have to agree with everyone the textures are so low res i can't take close-up screenshots of the models

    That is one of the early Concept-Screenshots from ARR, while 1.0 was still running. So no, it is not what 1.0 did look like, it is what ARR looked like at a certain time under development, since it is an actual screenshot and was confirmed to be not rendered or anything.

    This is what I was wishing for when they first mentioned a DX11 version with visual features "Leaps and bounds" better than what is present, now all of a sudden it's "Resolution doesn't matter"...
