That said crafted gear is currently "nice but not required" so I would only recommend getting heavily into it if you enjoy the crafting minigame, otherwise you may not find it worth your while. While it's possible to make money at it crafting isn't the money-earner in this game that it is in other MMORPGs.....
I read that there wasn't much of a limit to what classes you can take, but wasn't sure if you can potentially max them all or if you're limited to 2 or 3 of them. I'm likely not going to look into getting too heavily into it given what I'm reading on the current economical investment that is required (which I don't have yet) and the little gain that is gathered from it (as you mentioned).
