the quests I did do was pretty fun and honestly i hope they do not add cs to every quest. some idm but honestly the most boring this in ffxiv currently is the loading time when you do cs like from the intro even a mini ffxi cs had a decent loading time between game and cs. Plus i rather stay in game not be taken out of it by watching. I like moving my character

    14 has been doing that.

this isnt a quest leveling based game. Questing is 1 option to level up, leves are another, grinding is another, dungeons will be another.

In all these other games, your pretty much stuck questing, and thats it
I think your misunsderstanding what I was trying to say. Not everyone may like party grinding or levequest grinding and will only do quest leveling. For those people who plan on just quest leveling SE would need to have enough quests to level all current and future classes to max rank. I hope you now understand wgat I was trying to say, I wasn't talking about myself, but those who enjoy quest leveling and the only way quest leveling is made possible in other mmo.

WoW you can quest. You can dungeon grind. You can mob grind.
AoC you can quest. You can dungeon grind. You can mob grind.
TERA you can quest. You can dungeon grind. You can mob grind.

This system is no new and innovating but I'm glad SE is taking it's route.

So does this mean that I need to be in Ul'dah to get Gladiator Guild Marks?

Hmmm... That would leave Limsa Lominsa without Caster marks....until these release Arcanists...

I like doing quests too, to hear the story behind the game, what some life is like, that sort of stuff.

I did a quest in Wineport (La Noscea) within the last week, it was called Moonstruck or something close. There I heard about the npc giving story behind the second moon following the large moon. Well at the end of the quest, she says she must be seeing things but the smaller moon looked "larger" to her.

First thing I thought of after hearing that bit with the moon:

Disciples of the Land will benefit from the addition of a stealth skill to their arsenal, and we’re prepared to invest as much resource as needed to improve the map.
I find this sentence rather interesting. Perhaps I'm misunderstanding or simply naive, but when he refers to "the map," is he referring to the game world? Seems like a rather subtle way to respond. Likely I'm missing something, but I thought I'd bring it up.

I said this in another thread, but while we're on the subject, I'll post it here too.

I'm most excited to hear that we will now have the option of quest-based leveling! This is where me and my husband will spend a big chunk of our time, as we enjoy questing together.

Story and substance are key for me in MMOs. And while SE usually excels at this, FFXIV has really fallen short. Finally, we're getting back on track!

I'm really glad I waited to do my sidequests. <3

Anyway, I think the upcoming questhubs will also help to facilitate that progression push, and give us a reason to explore.

I also plan to be running dungeons, as that's something I enjoy, too.

Getting away from the empty grind is a fantastic move. Finally, I have renewed faith that SE is becoming aware that modern MMO gamers want options. I haven't been as excited about this game in almost a year.

Same here! I was on a shiny-orb-of-crafting-doom-pushed-me-over-the-edge sabbatical until I saw the auto-attack video they posted

I know it's a bad idea (essspecialies since the 1.17 patches), but I'm really getting my hopes up for 1.18!

Anyone else think that it's going to be kind of disappointing after the servers come back up and the content hasn't changed ... this downtime feels kinda patchy :3

Casuals and Soloers will be super pumped, but what happens to those levelinkers? I'm not questing to hit max rank, and if I have to solo to max rank, I might as well just quit. I wanted to play a MMO, and not just an rpg. I'm just saying how are they going to talk to casual/solo players, but then not tell the "group players (real mmo players btfw)" what they're going to have to do after that! Leve linking was one of the only social aspects about this game. It was monotonous and boring, but they didn't even tell us what they would replace it with. Leaving a lot of "party-ers" worried a bit. I can't believe there's a distinction between "party-play" and "solo-play" in a effing mmo and that burns my cheese. Rpg's aren't good enough, they have to ruin mmos now?
