while i like the information this letter offered, would of loved it even more if we heard about jobs. Since it seems like auto attack is in 1.18 along with dungeons and guild leve. 1.19 focuses on DoL and DoH but still no word on when jobs will come out.

It was a good read, and I actually feel much more optimistic about the game now. March on Dev Team! We believe in you!
As for sidequests, he mentioned that NPC interactions will be required. I hope that they will make it into simple cutscenes when NPCs are talking, it will go a long way in making players feel more involved.

They just mean that, unlike guildleves where you interact with the NPC at the counter, for side quests you actually have to go out and find a sidequest NPC before you can start a quest. Sidequests are more complicated than guildleves.

Hi All,
This is a fantastic Letter from Producer!![]()
As many people were complaining about, doing the same Guildleves or going to the same boring Camps over and over really made Final Fantasy XIV about "Guildleves" and "Linking." It became the best way to SP and the most efficient way, and it really drove players to go to certain Camps and that was it.
With the changes he mentions, like Guildleves being Solo Content, this is a wonderful step in the right direction!
It now places the focus of Party SP'ing away from the same boring Guildleves / and faceless Guildleve Counter. With the Map and Monster Revisions the he's mentioned here and via the response we got on the "1 to 50 Zone" Thread, this should mean we'll get many different areas (and interesting ones at that) to go out to and *explore* and *adventure*.![]()
Instead of going to Nanawa Mines or Broken Water over and over, hopefully we'll be getting our version of places like Rolanberry Fields, Crawler's Nest, Boyahda Tree, Sanctuary of Zi'tah, etc.I can't wait to see what the revised regions are going to look like, what the artists will surprise us with for Partying.
I think it's a noble goal what Yoshida-san is setting forth to do (as he mentions): Quick, easy-to-hop-into Content after a day at school, work, etc., where you can jump online, and get *something* done (Solo Guildleves and Solo Quests) and spend an hour or so, or you can go and do Light Party-based content, or plan for bigger, more time-consuming, strategic content like the The Dzemael Darkhold (R50 Raid Dungeon), and future areas like that.
I loved XI, but I can see how not everyone has time (nor wants to) put a LFP (Looking For Party) Flag and wait for an hour or two until a Party forms, and then travel and get to the location and grind for 2 - 3 hours on top of that.
This is definitely turning out to be exciting times for Final Fantasy XIV.![]()
I can't wait!

I must say that I don't know whether I will stick with this game much longer regardless of the changes and the SE name has soured with me. However Yoshi-P has impressed me tremendously with his efforts and his willingness to listen to the community. I had totally given up on this game, and now I'm intrigued again.
Probably too late for this game, but SE would be smart to let Yoshi-P take the lead in whatever future MMO they may be attempting.
More than likely the FFXI Lazarus project.I must say that I don't know whether I will stick with this game much longer regardless of the changes and the SE name has soured with me.
