I'm half-way on the OP's side here. I also missed the first time, due to personal RL reasons. I've been able to speed-level one character to 45 to get the gear, but have realized that I won't be able to do so with any of my alts (i.e. my female alt, to really get all the event gear). So I gave up on it -- way less stressful that way. Especially as I don't like to speed-level; I want to take my time and explore and socialize with friends.

I don't mind there being high-level events in general. While it's frustrating for the low-level players, it gives something for the higher levels to do outside of raids/instances. But what bothers me about this quest is that all the rewards, including the ones from the Lv.45 quest, have a level requirement of 13. So basically you level up like heck to get good enough to do the quest that gives you the reward that would have been useful back where you were when you started the first part. (I'm not going to go into my annoyance over the lack of balance between the event weapons.)

Sure, there's the "bragging factor" of it, of having something unique and later unobtainable, but other than that... Meh.

I think their rationale with the LR items were mainly for use with the vanity system coming in 2.2. That said, you make a number of good points.

    and more good points.
having a reward system of ~13 when the required finish level on the quest is 45 didn't make any sense to me either... =/

more junk that will never see the light of day

If you started playing just recently, then that's just too bad for you.

If you've been around, but haven't had enough time to devote to leveling, then that's just too bad for you.

If you've had time to devote to leveling, but have chosen to do other things with your game time, then that's just too bad for you.

If you think anyone cares what your situation is, when it comes to an event with a static set of parameters, then that's just too bad for you.

So one person feeling that their personal situation is somehow of more importance to the intrinsic game design than every other player isn't rude, but pointing out the arrogance of that view is? Okay, I'll gladly be rude.

Okay, so not being altruistic is being rude... gotcha.

Look, you can equivocate as much as you like, but the fact is that these boards are constantly full of threads by people complaining that the intrinsic design of the game is too hard for them (as an individual). The overall theme, being that the developers need to alter their game because it isn't easy enough for those individuals to breeze through, is just completely arrogant and self-centered.

Before anyone comes back and tries to accuse me of the same, yes I clear top-tier content in whatever I'm playing, and yes my only interest is in playing a game that has challenging content. What I don't care about is complaining for SE to change their game design to cater to me. I don't care if they do actually change anything in their design to make the game less challenging or accessible. If that happens, I'll just go find something else that fits my style, and SE staff won't give two $#@!s about it; I wouldn't expect them to either.

One player is not the center of an MMO universe, and SE has a far greater number of players--most of which have absolutely no problems with their place in the overall game design--to consider than you. Get over it.
