Doubtful. The only instance of Necromancer as Job in Final Fantays history was because of a single player game being remade by an american dev team for the DS. It was never in any of the original japanese versions. And it wasn't a very impressive job the one time it did show up.
I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.

Necromancer was going to be added in FFXI but they made PUP and pup is not even in the final fantasy history. Reason for it was due to the skellies only pop at night which would mess up the idea of necromancer.Doubtful. now the question is would it make any sense in ffxiv.
Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together Autographed By "Akihiko Yoshida Tarot Card Sweepstakes Winner

Not likely. In the Ul'Dah storyline there's a whole deal about trying to find a way to communicate with the dead but the result is that it's pretty much impossible and dead is dead. If the thaumaturges, who specialize in death, can't even communicate with the dead, then it wouldn't make sense for a thousand random adventurers to run around with undead legions at their beck and call.
(Before someone makes the "raise" rebuttal: in FF, you don't die so "raise" spells only wake you up from unconsciousness.)
My name is a killing word.
(Seriously: "Caerith" was a forbidden name when I signed up on the forums.)
Eorzea should be a world, not a lobby.
Don't want to play the devils advocate but you forget the power of echo :P maybe a THM adventurer with that power can find a way to communicate with the dead. Not likely. Etiher way, I just saying that to play with you. I don't care about necromancer really.
Well, I really hope the archer isn't a Ranger or a Thief - especially not a thief. It might be good to stick Muskateer into this role.
I like being able to swap abilities around and try different combinations of skills. Every job is like the FFXI Blue Mage in that regard.
I swear I just heard my friend talking about future jobs, and he said that there was going to be a Dargonite class. Someone please tell me more about this!!!1

Actually PuppetMaster has been part of FF history, especially for the playable characters. It just isn't a specific Job in most cases and instead either a Skill segregated to a certain other job, or its Character Mechanic.
For Character mechanics the two that stand out the most are Reeve > Cait Sith > Cait Siths Moogle. Reeve controls Cait Sith, Cait Sith controls his Moogle that he rides. This was a three fold Puppetmaster.
Lulu used Puppet Dolls as her Weapons to assist her in casting spells and attacking.
As for the individual skills. There were multiple skills that allowed a player to assume direct control over a monster in combat. These skills were never used like for instance a Beast Master would use them, and instead were a bit like tying the monster up as a marionette and using it to attack its team mates from behind. With a Beast Master the monster still has some control over its actions, but with these skills they have none.
There is Precedents for Puppetmaster, There isn't one for Necromancer. No job has ever raised the dead as a skeleton to fight for you.
