It has been a part of FF, but in FFXI Necromancer were to be added but they went with PUP instead for the cop out reason "We didn't want undead out in the day", ignoring that said undead exist 24 hours in Xarcabard, dungeons and whenever Besieged happens. Necromancer also has a very strong foothold in Tavnazian history and you even confront one who summons a reanimated Mannequin to fight you. It was also found in FFV (GBA), so it had a pretty big presence, but like summoning, it was always seen as forbidden magic, but players eventually got the ability to become summoners again.

Why dont they just replace the armory system if they hate it so much?

(Im not suggesting the replace it, btw, because I actually like the armory system. But THEY obviously dont.)
Nothing is being replaced and guess what else Yoshida said? It's optional. You hate job specification, so don't unlock them.

For Character mechanics the two that stand out the most are Reeve > Cait Sith > Cait Siths Moogle. Reeve controls Cait Sith, Cait Sith controls his Moogle that he rides. This was a three fold Puppetmaster.

Lulu used Puppet Dolls as her Weapons to assist her in casting spells and attacking.

As for the individual skills. There were multiple skills that allowed a player to assume direct control over a monster in combat. These skills were never used like for instance a Beast Master would use them, and instead were a bit like tying the monster up as a marionette and using it to attack its team mates from behind. With a Beast Master the monster still has some control over its actions, but with these skills they have none.

There is Precedents for Puppetmaster, There isn't one for Necromancer. No job has ever raised the dead as a skeleton to fight for you.
Luca From FFIV: The After Years was sort of a Puppetmaster too with her two puppets Calca and Brina. And alot of her band attacks involve them.

A marauder is essentially a Viking. But without the Nordic cultural context.

MRD as BRD. Bard plays instrument, guitars are instruments, guitars are also referred to as "axes". Chopping people up while playing mad riffs, I'd totally play that job!

I really hope not, I think guitars in fantasy games are just tacky, I hate it just thinking about it. On top that it would not fit final fantasy at all.

Yeah, but we don't have Hammers! If we were Vikings we would swing Hammers too!

I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.

im generally not a fan that each weapon = only 1 class. what you have in your suggestions are pretty much what most of those classes are, with some minor changes, which seems kind of meh. I think the fact that the classes right now are limited to the weapon they have kind of hurts the "jobs" system they want to do. Your always stuck with that one weapon means you cant branch the jobs. ex: GLD could be PLD and DRK, but having all of them use a sword only kind of makes them feel no different.

Though i guess they could always down the line make weapons like say a "scythe" that is GLD/DRK to use it, the only thing that the GLD form gets that makes it different is only weaponskills, where as the DRK gets all of his special skills.

That is kinda why I put the "assuming each job uses its base class weapons"

I'm not really a big fan of 1 weapon = 1 class either, but I think it is safe to say that that is how it will be, atleast upon the first release of the system.

And..if the new system allows us to switch around weapons..I will be very pleasently surprised.
