Enhanced Items - If I'm not mistaken, this is when you take a finished item and improve it, e.g. plumed pickaxes, wrapped hammers.

Finished Items - This is when you assemble a number of parts into a single item, e.g. swords, tools, fishing rods.

Parts - These are materials that have been converted into specific pieces of a weapon or armor piece, e.g. lance heads, sword blades.

Materials - These, if I'm not mistaken, are the building blocks for everything else, e.g. nuggets, ingots, lumber, planks.

Decorations - Not entirely sure, to be honest. . .

Creative Urge - Increases chance of success of next action. Most effective for enhanced items.

But you can't choose any skill during touching up ur finished items though..

Enhanced Items: Items that are made from another one, like bladed lantern shield or engraved iron Bhuj.
Finished items: Stuff ready to use, like meat dishes, weapons and armor
Parts: Materials that are part of a big one, often marked as weapon part, footwear part, etc. Some examples are outsoles, vamps, sleeves, hafts, grips, etc.
Material: Anything that is neither food or finished item. Plates, squares, ingots, leather, cloth, yarns, lumbers, planks...
Decorations: Its for accessories i believe.

And you forgot mass production, that is for items that you make more than 12, like nails, rivets, arrows...

    Decorations - buckles, breastpins,gems etc

Also decorations are considered parts- so abilities that work for parts will also work for decorations.

Another example is enhanced items are also considered finished items. So abilities like Perfection will have 100% effectiveness for either type. Finished items also include arrows and other types of consumable weapons like jav's, throwing axes etc.

Like Lienn said, it's items that take a diffent finished item, and improve it. Going from a pickaxe to a plumed pickaxe, a hammer to a wrapped hammer, etc.
