i hope they will. If they manage, no need of S/I implementation. But atm.. there is no need for it since:
    - a lot of the mobs don't aggro anyways
    - if a mob doesn't one shot you, you can outrun it (big lol to that).

So... it would be pointless atm, so they rather fix the danger situation and mob behaviour...

Even if they add sneak&invis, it still not gonna make exploring more exciting or thrilling to walk in copy pasted boring backgrounds.
I reached to rank 32 1 day ago and decided to go to Grid for the first time(i am form Uldah). When i walked all the way to there it felt so boring and dull to walk in those repeated backdrops.

My feelings exactly; that is a good example of one of the solo adventures I had in FFXI, and would like to experience again in FFXIV.

With the current FFXIV system you simply try to stay out of a mob's agro range or run really fast past it, knowing that it will de-agro after a short distance. It is a simple and boring system, that has yet to leave me with any lasting memories of difficult experiences that I have triumphed over. I seriously hope that we will see some depth and challenge added to this game, along with all of the casual content.

I'm not going to lie: as a solo exploration mechanic I did have a lot of fun with it. I remember using Sneak and Invisible or Tonko to get around Ifrit's Cauldron while mining. That part was OK. But parties sneaking through dungeons without having to fight much was kind of anticlimactic.

In any event, the ability to outrun aggro in XIV reduces the need for sneak/invis somewhat even as a solo mechanic.

These two pretty much sum up my feelings on the topic. I also think that's the reasoning behind the decision to not put them in as they were done in FFXI. I agree that DoL should have a stealth option for getting past aggro, but if I have a weapon designed to kill things, I would much rather use it than avoiding things completely.

I remember one instance back in beta when I was ranked somewhere in the teens exploring the lands west of Ishgard. I had no idea what aggroed so I had to treat everything as if it did. There was one choke point full of peistes that made me fear for my life if I was seen, so I spent a lot of time watching for a moment when I could run behind them and hope I didn't get caught. In the end I made it through to the next camp in one piece. This experience gave me the same thrill of danger and death that I had in FFXI wondering when my S/I would wear, hoping it wouldn't wear at a bad time. Sneak and Invis would have only cheapened my experience, making it a non-issue getting through that dangerous area.

    - Like instead of pathing or stationary mobs, they are interactive with the environment and their surroundings a bit.

who knows, just thought I'd throw out a few ideas.
Yeah, could be fun to throw some dodo tenderloin to some carnivorous mob so that you can walk by while they are busy eating your bait :P

Indeed, in ffxi sneak/invis was a love/hate relationship. But I would still like to have it in this game. SE is slowing chipping away the fun factor of this game. As the game stands now IT'S IS TOO EASY to be any fun. No excitement, no mysteries, nothing to work hard towards. Do the dev's, hell Yoshi P for that matter think this game is any fun?

The tension that set in as you watched your 'sneak' begin to fade while you were running past the undead was exciting. Making the choice between fighting a mob or trying to slip past it during timed missions added another element of teamwork/communication.

Also, being able to use sneak/invis made 'true-sight' mobs feel all the more dangerous and interesting. Currently, it feels like all mobs in FFXIV agro to sound or simply radius. This takes all the fun out of waiting for a mob to turn it's back to you so that you can slip by undetected. knowing the difference between which mobs agroed to sound, sight, true-sight, or not at all made you a better player and gave you something to learn about the game.

Sneak/invis items (Food too) were also great for crafters since they couldn't be resold after use, like gear.

I don't want FFXIV to be a clone of FFXI, but I do feel that there are many good systems from the older mmo that are worth keeping and improving upon.

    Does anyone else miss sneak/invis?
I literally talk about this all the time in mumble/vent. i would love to see this implemented
