Is there an unneeded hostility towards regular classes in this game?

OP:

If you want to role ACN (or other classes) do so with friendly companions, via Linkshells, FCs or PF. I personally wouldn't have vote-kicked you for that, but many people have low tolerance (especially in CT where there has been an enormous amount of trolling).

Secondly, these forums (even with all the bantering) is an excellent, if not the best, resource for improving your ability to play this game effectively. I am very grateful for all the contributions and work many players have put in towards figuring this game out, personally knowing that I am maximizing performance for each role I play is the most satisfaction I have experienced from this game. I highly recommend reading through the forums (DPS, Tank, Healer roles, etc) to see the incredible amount of effort players have expended to inform the rest of us how to best play this particular game.

That DPS was back when I had item level of 74 or so I believe or 76, IDK, I'll find someone who can do a quick parse for me sometime so I can get a refreshed estimate up. I'm glad. I really hope it helps you. Even if you play ACN in solo settings, the information I gave you should help for future content when you play SMN.

Why wouldn't you test and play something before you say it is viable? I would argue wholeheartedly that what happens in other games does matter, structurally speaking. Either way no reason to act that way, I was trying to be polite :/

Why don't you equip SKS on a BLM or SPS on a MNK ? Do you need to try it to know "not, this isn't viable" ? You get an estimation of the viability of something, then try it. Or do you test everything, like STR on a BRD ?

There's only a few things I haven't really done by this point, so there isn't really much content that's available that I can do, especially when for most of them they require a decent party that I can't seem to get matched up with. You can only try Garuda EM so many dozens of times before you stop trying altogether, I'll never get to the other fights if I can never get past that.

I've done T1 and T2 of Coil several times, one run of T3 yesterday, nothing beyond that, you need at least an item level of 80 for that I guess. I've only attempted Garuda EX, haven't found a party in dozens of runs that could do it, so as of right now I have 0 Wins and about 100 Losses or so, stopped keeping track.

There isn't much to tell about that, had it at 218 once a few weeks back, no tests since because I'm on PS3 and would need someone to do it for me.

Base classes underperform compared to their job counterparts. Simply put, from the eyes of the serious playerbase, you're intentionally gimping yourself for no good reason other than fun (lol, what's that?).

So, 33% less DPS than a SMN. Shrug. Brings the options of more heals. However, you would need 2 heal slots to maintain the same DPS.

E.g.:

tank, tank, dps, dps, dps, hybrid ACN, hybrid ACN, healer.

Not really a net benefit.
