Thats not a confirmed of dropped support for PS3 in 1 year. But it sets the stage for PS3 support being dropped in the future.

Don't read into is this time next year you won't be able to play FFXIV on ps3 anymore, but don't plan on playing on the PS3 in 5 years from now.

He answered that with the second line: "It's a possibility in the future" meaning, they could drop PS3 support if enough people migrate over, or they may not. For now and for at least another year, the there is no issue though.

Well if you are going off that, it says at least til 3.0, which could be another 2 years. That is the minimum though, and depends on whether or not they will add anything that drastically needs the better hardware. Im on ps3 now and switching to ps4 when it starts,and they are giving people a lot of time to upgrade to ps4. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

If they can make a better game with dropping PS3 support then I am all for it. PS4 is only $399 and it will be cheaper by the time they drop PS3 support.

Usually when It comes to interviews "Its possible" usually means it will happen, but you get a FREE upgrade to the playstation 4 version... Why would you not take advantage of that in the next year or two?

Also dropping support doesnt mean you will just not be able play the game on the PS3, It just means future expansions and updates will be made for the PS4 and PC.
