The Events IMO

Ok, the lightning event was ok, we had gear from previous FF.
The event for the valentione's day was ok too. it had a story but no real reward.
Now, we get a stupid event with a minion that will last for 2 damn weeks.
WTH? can't we have real events with some real rewards that help us in-game ???
i'm paying this game to have updates every x day and events every x day.
what i see is not something that i will stay on for long.

You want seasonal events to drop top of the line gear?

The best you can hope for is that you can use them for glamours in 2.2

As for new content that isn't a seasonal event, those are only added every 3 months (if they manage to keep their schedule). If you don't like that situation I guess you really won't be around for long.

You can't have events that give you in game performance benefit as that would make the compulsory.

Ok, found it. It can be this japanese event:

Doll Festival (雛祭り Hina-matsuri?)

Date: March 3

Other Names: Sangatsu Sekku (3rd month Festival), Momo Sekku (Peach Festival), Joshi no Sekku (Girls' Festival)

Information: This is the day when families pray for the happiness and prosperity of their girls and to help ensure that they grow up healthy and beautiful. The celebration takes place both inside the home and at the seashore. Both parts are meant to ward off evil spirits from girls. Young girls put on their best kimonos and visit their friends' homes. Tiered platforms for hina ningyō (hina dolls; a set of dolls representing the emperor, empress, attendants, and musicians in ancient court dress) are set up in the home, and the family celebrates with a special meal of hishimochi (diamond-shaped rice cakes) and shirozake (rice malt with sake).

Or something total different again. Only the name "Peach Festival" refers to the coming event.

I also like to add, playing a japanese game that did a valentine's event was stupid, they more so celebrate lil girls and lil boys day in japan, so this event actually makes more sense than the last.

Oh, please. Valentine is a very big deal in Japan.

I don't agree. You shouldn't get special rewards that actually help in the game or make a significant difference. The balance between players shouldn't ever be tipped in favor of whoever happened to be playing the week of a certain event. The events they've been doing give you special outfits (which I suspect we'll see a lot more of once vanity comes out) and unique non-combat items like fireworks or minions. That's the best way to be doing it.

I'd rather us have an actual end game system that they thought more about, and keep the events the way they are. They're events, they are meant to have vanity rewards that aren't really that useful, that's just what mmo events are for, they want newer people to be able to complete them and not feel like higher level people are reeping cool rewards for doing them. Its an optional vanity event.

Endgame is the main content in an mmo that should really bring about items that took effort and are useful. But the current endgame system is completely vertical and ilevels are increasing next patch, so I can see how people are moving their frustration to other parts of the game, but events are just fine, its other content they should be filling in midlevel to endgame that has cool rewards and they just blatantly aren't even trying.

Lol, so a Japanese game can only have Japanese themed events? Eorzea doesn't look like it's based on Japan either. I think that's a really narrow-minded view.
