This right here should end this topic. How can you complain about anything when you are not in any way engaged by the actual game? Never mind the fact that reading has always been an integral part of FF games.

As for this particular event, it's clearly a parallel of the Doll festival in Japan - Hinamatsuri. I'm not sure why you have a problem with this at all, you don't *have* to participate, it's something that lots of people *will* participate in, and enjoy. It's not necessary for everything in a game to be about progressing your gear. Why do you play this game if you are only interested in gear progression and don't care to pay attention to the lore or even read the game text?

Im sorry but i disagree. The point of in game events is purely a benefit of logging in today. It is no different than the veteran rewards program. You subscribe for a set period of time and you get some rewards.

What your asking for is a version of World of Warcraft's in game events. They had the purpose of ''boosting'' the less geared players up to a little bit behind the hard core players.

The bigger difference here, is that these events are short and quite common. We had All Saints' Wake, Moonfire Faire, Starlight Celebration, Heavensturn, Valentione's Day, Lightning Strikes, There's Golems in Those Hills!, That Old Black Magic and lately Little Ladies' Day. That is a lot of events in the span of 6 months. And yes, this game has been online for 6 months now.

You know they celebrate Valentine's day in Japan right?

Spring, but with peach blossoms instead with cherry blossoms
Ok, found it. It can be this japanese event:
    Doll Festival (雛祭り Hina-matsuri?)

    Date: March 3

Other Names: Sangatsu Sekku (3rd month Festival), Momo Sekku (Peach Festival), Joshi no Sekku (Girls' Festival)

Information: This is the day when families pray for the happiness and prosperity of their girls and to help ensure that they grow up healthy and beautiful. The celebration takes place both inside the home and at the seashore. Both parts are meant to ward off evil spirits from girls. Young girls put on their best kimonos and visit their friends' homes. Tiered platforms for hina ningyō (hina dolls; a set of dolls representing the emperor, empress, attendants, and musicians in ancient court dress) are set up in the home, and the family celebrates with a special meal of hishimochi (diamond-shaped rice cakes) and shirozake (rice malt with sake).
Or something total different again. Only the name "Peach Festival" refers to the coming event.

17th february 2011 was the first time of the event.

It was also the last "bell" event ^^

The next event after this should be the Hatching-tide event
