ah ok i think i get how it works then i only want to flag stuff i really really need and can use. Do not waste on something that is not going to benefit me
The only thing lalafells took over on Balmung is the lawn gnome business. They charge 5k gil an hour to stand on your front lawn.
Yep. Run it as many times as you like, collect philo and myth, and only roll on gear that you really want since you can only get one piece per week. Depending on your luck, you could end up capping philo before you get a drop, so you'll be getting plenty of Darklight gear while you're at it.
Read this for CT:
And yes my previous statment was written too quickly. You can access it as many times as you want, only the loot gets locked out.

Hey Lethal - Look me up if you can when you are on, we are on the same server. I have a few higher leveled characters and I'd be happy to do some runs with you and help you get back into the swing of things. My MNK/PLD/SCH is Ehayte Feytes, and my BLM is Nyne Feytes. I'll try to shoot you a tell or something to see if you need any help or anything.
Welcome Back! : D
The best way to get philosophy tomes now-a-days is:
1.) Storyline duty roulette - this will get you 300 tomes, and some gil by randomly putting you into either praetorium or CM, repeatable once per day.
2.) Crystal Tower - completion of the Crystal Tower (30-ish mins in a good group, 45-ish in a not so good one) rewards you with 200 philosophy tomes and 50 Mythology tomes, plus you have the added bonus of being able to lot on ilvl 80 gear pieces as well. You're allowed to win one piece per week, resetting monday mornings, though you can continue to run it for fun and tomes after you get your weekly piece.
3.) Low level duty roulette - this will randomly throw you into any of the instances below level 50, usually whichever one has someone already queued up for it in need of progression. It awards 100 Philosophy Tomes, 10 Mythology tomes, and a decent chunk of gil for completion on a level 50 job, or a huge xp bonus instead of the tomes on a job below level 50, repeatable daily.
4.) High Level duty roulette - this will randomly toss you into one of whichever level 50 dungeons you have unlocked. The roulette itself does not award philosophy tomes, but all of the level 50 instances do give 100ish for completion. I would probably recommend that you get a few more pieces of darklight and maybe an ifrit/garuda/crafted ilvl 70 weapon before doing this though.
5.) AK/WP/whatever spam - you get 100 philosophy tomes for AK/WP and 30 mythology tomes. Depending on the group, either of these dungeons is usually pretty easy to clear quickly, and gives the added bonus of accumulating mythology tomes for your lvl 90 gear while you're at it. AK was recently made a lot easier by removing some of the mobs and lowering the HP of the rest of them, and most DF groups can finish it up pretty quickly and easily.
6.) Beastman daily quests/treasure hunts - okay, these don't exactly give a ton of tomes for completion, especially before you rank up with the beastmen some and gain access to higher tiered quests with better rewards, but they do give tomes, gil, and a crapton of shards as rewards. I don't remember exactly, but I believe the quest to start the sylph dailies is in the twin adder HQ in gridania, and the one for the amal'jaa is in the immortal flames HQ in Ul'Dah, but don't quote me on that, it's been a long while. The treasure hunts can be completed I believe it's every 18 hours, correct me if I'm wrong, you can do solo hunts and party hunts, can buy maps or farm them yourself on a gathering job. there's a quest that gives the ability to dig for treasure and decipher maps but I don't remember where it was, I think maybe camp bronze lake somewhere? You dig up a treasure chest, kill some mobs guarding it and get gil, items, shards, and tomes. The most I got from one chest was 30 philo tomes.
the roulettes will be in your duty finder menu at the very top of the list. As you can see, there's a lot more variety now than there was on the game's release. I suggest doing a lot of different things to farm your tomes rather than spamming just one thing, it's a lot more fun that way, and you don't get driven insane by spamming the same instance over, and over, and over, and over again.
Hope this was helpful =)

A warning though for CT in terms of the type of people who tend to go there most of the times, lots of elitists, and trolls, so use that stoneskin on yourself in real life when going in there. Also welcome back.
I am not sure if CT loot still drops to people that don't do anything once the loot timer runs out, but better be safe than sorry and remember to pass on anything you don't want so you don't accidentally get locked on gear for the week.
Thank you Marael for all that info and taking the time to type that all out lol i will take the advice and use it well im close to my body piece for dark light![]()
