Try alt+tilde, some combination like that usually works with the IME when you don't have a Japanese keyboard.
I'm not sure why but the alt tilde, shift... etc don't seem to work :-( Someone said it's still in game (the alt tilde used to work during CB... just not sure what changed O.o)
I don't think the PS3 has Japanese IME. Hell I don't think the US PC client has IME for the same reason FFXI didn't have it. SE licensed the IME from another company and did not want to pay the extra money to put it in all the gaming clients when usage would practically be none.
I know you can set the PS3 to Japanese input from the settings section of the PS3's XMB menu, so the IME does exist in the system. The problem is that you can't get to the XMB while in-game, so if there is a way to switch input methods back and forth without completely exiting, the game would have to provide that mechanism.
No there's not at this time but the PS3 JPN keyboard can swich from JPN to ENG at anytimeI know you can set the PS3 to Japanese input from the settings section of the PS3's XMB menu, so the IME does exist in the system. Shouldn't need it since Windows supports doing it already, I've done it.I don't think the PS3 has Japanese IME. Hell I don't think the US PC client has IME for the same reason FFXI didn't have it. In order to type in japanes on ps3, u have to change ur ps3 language to japanase. Then u can switch using ~. Language change wasnt necessary in beta 3, so it may be sony's fault.
