Agreed. You shouldn't be able to promote above your own rank.

^.^
The issue stems from FC's only having 2 ranks. Master and not-master.In other games the rules usually are that you can promote someone up to the rank below yours.
In FF14 you can promote people to a rank above your own.
That is usually considered an exploit. Imagine if your supervisor at work could promote you to be his boss, does that seem right to you?
You can make as many categories for non-master members as you like (or up to 5 or whatever the limit is). But giving promotion/demotion privileges to one simply says "you can shuffle people around any category you'd like" as they're all effectively the same rank. There is no hierarchy. There is only a monarchy.

I do understand that. The issue stems from FC's only having 2 ranks. Master and not-master.

However, SE decided to implement a system that's been in MMOs since ... forever. I know there were guild ranks in Anarchy Online, and that's from 2001, so I'm gonna go out on a limb and say they have ALWAYS been in MMOs. But in implementing guild ranks, they decided to re-invent the wheel and make it octagonal for some insane reason. It is only fair that the players complain and ask SE to use the GOOD, ROUND wheel instead of the bumpy OCTAGONAL one they invented.
Wow. That's like me being a small section chief of a big time company, hiring my frand and then promoting him as the CEO of the whole outfit. We take the money, run, and no country officials think there's anything wrong with the system....
Crazy stuff!![]()
My friends and I tested this a bit a long ways back. When we created our own FC as the leader I simply only gave myself the ability to withdraw gil. Only me and 2 of my Executors can promote or demote and I trust them. Even if they did try to screw the FC over they could only take items from the chest, and we don't really keep high dollar items in there so we would be out of a few million at most. our 24+mil would be able to still fund events, raids, and other things. NOTE: Also make it to where only trusted members can mess with airships too. Those things get to the point to where their parts are expensive.
What needs to be done about this is basically when a person is invited they get the lowest rank with nothing.
They cannot promote the player for 10 days. That's how it should be.
Heists like this are clearly planned. On the 11th day, it will be executed. This solves nothing.
Seems like a lot of trouble to go through just to get 10m Gil. What a scumbag.
Wow. Just wow. As the leader of a small FC, please fix this SE, because there is clearly a ranking order within the menu that you can set. If it is only for the purpose of organizing the ranks for listing purpose, then that is HIGHLY misleading....
I would seriously question the person who did the promoting, regardless of the issue of promoting above your own rank. Seriously, that players name didn't throw up any red flags?
