I agree. This would be a good temporary solution until a permanent solution can be worked in.I was noticing SE routinely posts and stickies security notices to its news section, such as:Undoubtedly this in-game exploit deserves at least this much notice by SE. (And hopefully, with SE being the enabler and its own customers being the individuals with malicious intent, they would also choose to fix this problem rather than continue to post warnings about their own deficiencies.)

So how about an actual answer from a moderator? At least to let us know if they can forward this to the Dev team.
Lol wow, all of your hard work and dedication gone just like that and you'd think they would have a better reply than "working as intended". Really SE? If this were to happen to my fc we would have quit a long time ago. Shows that they don't really care about us and just makes ridiculous nerfs like myth cap being gone and farmable coil while some of us had to do it for months just to get something. I don't really know anymore, I love this game but SE is killing it for me right now.
Always by your side. . .

Future generation shall get it easier? That's outrageous!

As someone who has played EVE online for a very long time, this is baby stuff to me.
On EVE, there have been full-scale white collar heists into the biggest Corporations(EVE's version of guilds) to gain bank rights to steal trillions of ISK. That's the kind of stuff that constantly puts EVE in gaming news. On that game it's pretty much an accepted fact that you have to be careful of who you can trust, it's a major draw of the game.
Though the system is different on EVE, only the LEADER of the guild can promote people and Directors(Second in commands) have all other rights, including accessing the guild bank. Normally you will have people basically become your best friend to be your director, then they swipe all your money and delete the account. Heck, there was one instance where a whole major guild was created and when they were close to reaching the top, they swiped all of the donated money and disappeared. Yet EVE is possibly one of the most well known and popular hardcore MMOs out there.
This is a lesson for all FCs, stop arbitrarily giving powers away. Organizing an FC is arguably "hardcore content", you have to be prepared for developments like these.

Well, in a PvE game like this, the avenues of retribution are very limited. However, SE needs to make a definitive statement whether this kind of subterfuge (and retaliation) is or is not against the ToS. That would at least let everyone know where they stand. (Of course, naming someone publicly for doing something not against the ToS would not be against the ToS.)

For one thing, this isn't EVE. Free Companies aren't just focused on end game content. I disagree that FC's are "Hardcore Content". The biggest benefits to FC's are guild storage, a small buff, and an ability to customize your gear with the FC logo. I can hardly see how any of this benefits "hardcore content" excepting maybe the small buff benefit. If anything FC's are more about helping lower level characters reach endgame. You don't even really need a FC to play the game. Linkshells work fine.
The nice thing about a FC is that it brings people together. The communal storage is a great way for players to interact without them having to constantly trade. Additionally the communal bank serving as a deposit point lets people support and assist the efforts of the company. I fully agree that the Hierarchy of ranks should work within the ability to promote/demote. It's a good thing to be able to show people in your group that X person deserves special recognition/status but it should not be carte blanc. Powers aren't arbitrarily appointed - the only major mistake here was trusting that the hierarchy system would serve as a means to control privileges. Or a failure to research the matter. Either way I know that the FC's coffers being emptied were my failure as a Guildmaster. If we get our gil back, that would be fantastic. However, I understand the responsibility ultimately falls on the individuals in this situation. I simply hope that this small change to how FC's work will ultimately better the game's content.

I have to admit this is quite shocking. How is something like this STILL in the game so far after launch? Seems like a huge, huge security flaw. Please fix, SE.

I've known about this flaw for a long time, fortunately my FC is a very tight-knight group of long time friends. I really hope you get your stuff back!
