    Is crafting this hard?

So, I've been playing for about 1-2 weeks now and finally got my hands on some crafting equipment (mainly for Weaver). After seeing all the things I could do I got excited...for a while.

You see, whenever I read a recipe for a higher rank gear, there's always an ingredient that is not sold by NPCs or that needs to be crafted by another class, then you go to the recipe for that, and there's another item that needs another class and so on~

Seeing as (or that's what I think) many people actually craft stuff...Am I looking at crafting the wrong way? Or do I really need to go trough different classes to craft some equipment alone?

    Thanks

They stated somewhere on here that they realize that problem and are simplifying the recipes. as well as the new info from recent interview stating future crafting/gathering changes hopefully it'll get better I feel the same it's too confusing to be fun.

Oh I see. Because it is kind of silly to need to pass trough 3-4 classes just to craft an item. I would prefer to kill mobs or do other stuff to get the ingredients rather than leveling up other classes.

Weaver recipes definitely have a lot of ingredients that are mix-matched --- think the idea is you make clothes when someone needs them, not grind on them.
Should be easy to skill up mainly on yarn and fletching recipes, moko grass can be found on rats, cotton on puks, and flax on does.

Aside from that advice, can always check out ffxivyg.com to find what recipes you like ^^

Well, the idea is that you'll get the mats from other crafters, who are leveling other crafts. You can buy them from the market wards, or just ask other crafters/LS mates to help you out. The fact that you have to get other crafters to make stuff helps build the economy, and creates a community.

So the idea is that you won't be able to do everything yourself. That's on purpose.

They believed it would be a good idea to involve multiple crafting professions in item creation in order for crafters to create networks amongst their community/server. Its a good idea in theory, but its simply a burden with how low FFXIV's population is currently.

That and the fact that high level crafters tend to sell their wares at ridiculous prices.

Totally agree! Every time I want to craft a finalized item, it always forces me to use at least 3 classes and I usually have to level one of them up a bit before I can make all the reagents... Running to unexplored places to hunt some mobbie that drops the reagents is much more fun, and makes leveling your DoW / DoM more rewarding

Although, it is kind of neat how SE kept the crafting classes from relying on the battle classes. And I sometimes actually enjoy using various classes to move from raw materials to final product--though this is only fun and rewarding when you mass produce items, not so good for a quick 'I want to make this armor for my Gladiator...'

Generally, I've gotten used to measuring out the materials and always making at least 6 final products so that all the work and toiling doesn't go to waste ^^

I think SE failed if their intent was to make crafting easily accessable for anyone (who doesn't bot). If they intend it to be something people focus on they did well I think (except for the bots). I know I dont have the patience to craft. It isn't for everyone and if they didn't make a system where people could bot, I would say it would work fairly well. Some mistakes they need to fix here, but yeah crafting is not for everyone who is honest enough not to cheat, as tempting as it may be.

i kind of like what its like right now. its like if you want a burger, you will need to buy the patty, bun and toppings to craft your own burger to eat or sell. doubtful you will raise a cow then kill it harvest the meat. Then plow a weat field then bake the buns... you could... but it would be alot harder. so in the end you would normally just buy the meat and buns.
