I still play ffxi a lot(Though I wish there kept the cap at 75).
So ffxi is my main game for now.

But nothing last for ever and would hope to make ffxiv my new main game when it happens.
There are several mini side quests per city. Some of the quests don't unlock until you are a high enough rank. I went through each city to finish them all when I was 30. I hit 40 and ran around and noticed there was a couple that popped up for rank 36. Many are simple and take a little running around, but it gets you out adventuring.

There is no delivery service as of yet and chocobos/airships have not been added yet.

Like someone posted before, get a good read on the patch notes. It'll be a much better way to get up to date on what has happened, and what's going to happen this summer.

I miss XI, but I could never go back to it. Have fun!
