Side note: Greased Lightning has nothing to do with the reason Monks should not use macros. It has everything to do with the way the server handles stance updating (hint: really, really badly).

I also play on pc with an xbox 360 controller and I don't recommend doing the full combo in one macro I do recommend putting shoulder tackle and mercy stroke if you use that in each one of your combo moves makes me not have to use those as a separate button. You can also see my button setup which never gives me the issue of dropping my stacks. If you have any questions just feel free to ask

note: Shoulder Tackle wil only work if you far enough away from your intended target.

I would not recommend doing either of these things.

Its all personal preference and how you adapt using a controller it might be easier for me but maybe hinder someone else

No, I mean that I wouldn't recommend doing either of those because it will actually reduce your effectiveness. It's not about preference; it's about being better or worse at your job, and not having total control over your gap closer and execute makes you worse at your job.

This is not an argumentative response but how does it reduce your effectiveness? It doesn't cause me to lose my stacks or affect my dps I am not a full Ilvl 90 monk but I can do easily 270-300+ dps on most encounters

Here is the macro most Monks should be use

    /ac "Dragon Kick" <t> <wait.3>
    /ac "Twin Snakes" <t> <wait.3>
    /ac "Demolish" <t> <wait.3>
    /ac "Bootshine" <t> <wait.3>
    /ac "True Strike" <t> <wait.3>
    /ac "Snap Punch" <t> <wait.3>
    /ac "Touch Of Death" <t> <wait.3>

    wah-lah

Just press that every 20 seconds or so and you should be on your way to high MNK dps.
