Name changing

Welp, in the case of the guy on my server who's name is "Stupid Idiot" ....it's your own fault. XD Should have thought about a name you'd like to stick with in the long run.

I love my name personally. ;D (I know, you asked.)

Rex because that's a name I've always liked,

and Xylon, meaning "Wanderer of the Woods" or "From the Forest" (as far as Greek naming goes) or "One living in (such) a relation to wood or trees" (as far as the literally Greek word Xylon goes) I chose that back in 2010 because Gridania is my starting city-state. Found it fitting because in the 1.0 opening you're found just wandering in the woods alone.




I actually just found this and the name is more fitting than I originally realized! XD

I'm... kind of disappointed and disgusted with the reasons pasted for NOT allowing this. You're basically just bitter at other people's misbehaviour, which has nothing to do with offering a service to change a character name. If they knowingly made something inappropriate like that and decided they liked the game and didn't want to degrade it... isn't that a good thing? Why would you want to force them to keep something that defaces the game in your opinion just to "punish" them for it? They changed their minds, that's a good thing. Why is punishing them even your concern? That's ridiculous.

If you love your name... good for you? Someone else might have seen your name and been inspired to write something more fitting to their personality, more befitting the setting of the game, more befitting their race or occupation. Isn't that also a good thing? I'm very confused by this mindset of restricting and banning others from making POSITIVE changes that benefits the community as well as their self-identity.

I have two characters, one named Shisa Wisp whom I love and will likely, do not want to, change the name ever. I'm perfectly happy with it. Guess what? That's not its original name. I'm a Legacy Player who originally hailed from Istory named Wisp Tribal. I made a nod to FFIX, because I loved the idea of Zidane pairing with Mikoto instead of Dagger. I never liked Dagger. Being legacy allowed me to change my name in the modern incarnation of ARR, and I changed it to Shisa Wisp, something original, that still nodded and kept my nod to my character's origins.

I have a second character that's a different race named Jubei Silas. I personally do not wish to have that name anymore because it's a nod to an original character that I created with a very, very good friend of mine. A project we worked on together. We're no longer friends. I want to change that character's name because any time i deal with that character it's a spit in my eye to the relationship that I lost-- I'm sorry, is that a terrible reason?

Currently I would need to delete the character and toss away all effort I currently have on it, lose my friends' list and linkshells and start from scratch SIMPLY to change the name.

I want to change that character's name. Please forgive me.
