Post-patch AOE indicators are too distracting

Just logged on last night and noticed that AOE indicators have now been switched to a bright yellow-orange and pulses constantly. This is extremely noisy and distracting.

Specifically, the worst part about the indicator is that the pulses are completely independent of the actual ability being cast -- they are not synchronized in any way. It would make way more sense if the pulse inside the AOE marker hit the edge at the same time as the spell finished casting, e.g. if the pulse were sync'd with the spellcast.

It's not. It pulses essentially randomly. This interferes with player timing of the actual AOE effect.

It's also too bright in general. I would appreciate an option to revert to the old style red AOEs. Optimally, I would prefer a red (or orange-yellow) AOE indicator of the same brightness as the old indicators, with the pulse synchronized to the spellcast. This sort of pulse can be observed with Wildstar telegraphs, for example.

While I do think options would be cool, I don't understand what you mean about the timing. See AOE, get out.

The changes to the indicator and the change from green to blue X's or checkmarks in the Armory Chest are to help colorblind people.

I think it's supposed to be distracting so you know, avoid it.

AoE = GTFO. Timing is irrelevant. Also, I may be in the minority, but I really like the new AoE changes. Helped alot while fighting Odin last night.

i actually think the new aoe color is harder to see, it looks more flesh color to me and not as jarring as red.

i do like your idea of the pulse (inner moving line) of the aoe to coincide with the casting of the aoe, that why you don't have to focus at the cast bar and look to where the action is.

I'm a fan of the new indicators. Now if they were only more accurate. I still get hit now and then even when I was clearly out of range.

The telegraph demands too much attention? I love the new design. The fast moving 'wave' makes it more noticable. Ya know to move, ya know it's coming - and now ya got a throbbing 'I'm coming' indicator.

How does a different telegraph interfere with your twitch finger? You can see it too much? Good grief!!! Nerf it! NERF IT ALL!!!!

I'm black/white colorblind. I like the new changes. Makes it much easier to distinguish where the Enemy AoE is at for me. I don't feel the urge to put all party effects at minimal to none anymore and can enjoy the particle effects.

You guys know that the changes were implemented to make the AoE more noticeable to colorblind folks, right? Red AoEs are almost impossible to see by a substantial portion of the population (mostly brown-eyed males), so the color change to yellow and the waves makes it a lot easier for them, while not affecting people who can see normally.

I walk back into the AOE telegraph when the spellcast is complete, like any competent DPS who wants to continue DPSing.

Prior to the patch, I could time this with the fade of the AOE marker.

Post-patch, half the time I attempt to walk back in when the random pulse is complete, and I have to stop myself several times and wait for the actual fade. It's extremely distracting and adds a lot of graphical clutter to the screen when there are more relevant fight mechanics to pay attention to (e.g. the boss direction, positioning, rot timers, adds, etc).

In addition, the bright yellow-orange is closer in color to other graphical effects, compared to the more unique red. More clutter, more distraction. Highly annoying. Especially with the extreme variance in brightness -- the pulse is very bright and gradients down to a very dark shade. Why?

Dodging red is trivial. They are not the important mechanics in any of the fights in this game.

It seems like it would be simple to have a checkbox for "I AM NOT COLORBLIND, STOP SCREWING WITH MY UI". Did they add that option and did I miss it?

    Edit:

I'm surprised so many players apparently like it. My entire coil static commented that it was annoying and distracting.

I guess people really have a huge problem with trivial red circles on the ground?

Either way, the option to disable would be fantastic.
