Twintania and strange aggro behavior

Forgive me if this has been posted somewhere, but I did a search and didn't find anything relevant.

My group was doing Turn 5 last night, and for some reason, when the tank pulled twin and her adds, the adds would all instantly aggro our bard. He had no song up, and he performed no actions. The 3 adds simply ignored the tank and went straight for the bard.

Anyone else seen this, and possibly know of a fix? I've seen a lot of posts on other websites, but nothing on the official forums. If it's actually an issue, I'll move this to the bug section.

yep, seen it twice before. They would aggro me (blm) in some run i've done before. In some other run it would aggro the Monk.
No skills have been used, they would just go for us lol. Just sounds like a strange bug

They do that quite a lot, but tanks usually manage to take them again in time xD


I guess that is designed that way. We even made some tests, and you can get agro even staying out of the arena XD

I've seen it too. And not to sound like an A-hole, but the tanks need to get their targets attention asap.
That's not to say I don't think it isn't bugged. It obviously is sometimes because I've seen it go after our BLM for no reason. BLM didn't even twitch and after a circle of scorn it went after him.

I've never done T5, but is it possible the adds go after the person with the 2nd highest amount of hate? I would assume OTs don't have their enmity gen abilities up while dpsing Twin down to this point so it would stand to reason the brd/blm would be 2nd on the list for whatever adds spawn if they share hate with Twin. Or is this at the start of the fight..?

I would agree on the 2nd-highest threat argument, except that we only use one tank. So when he pulls, no one else has used an action at all in the group. It would make sense if they went after the healers, but instead they go after the bard.

I've seen on some other websites people mentioning aggro by name (alphabetically), and our bard's name does start with A, so maybe???

The problem is at the initial pull. For whatever reason the aggroing algorithms make the 3 adds immediately aggro someone else besides the tank, sometimes. In almost everywhere else aggro works by the mobs targetting whoever is closest, or whoever pulled them first.

I had this happen to me last week and couldn't figure it out. Friend of mine recommended when I pull, to pop Fight or Flight right after they all aggro me, and then that puts them all on me. Leaving me to hold the adds while the MT does his thing.

It's not a bug. In a recent patch I noticed that when Twintania was pulled, if I used any kind of self buffs on myself (eg. Raging Strikes) before the OT established aggro on the adds, they would all flock to me. It's pretty common for a bard to pop 10 million buffs before they begin attacking so either make sure the OT uses his buffs first or just have the bard wait a second or two for threat to be established, as I am sure that powerup buffs now establish some low amount of enmity.

This. I have run T4 and I know that if I pop Battle Voice before the Tanks have hate on all the spiders, they will converge on me. Same thing happens to our blm when she self buffs. I wait 5 seconds before starting anything in boss fights now.
