One thing i have learned about the PS4 itself, not directly in the hands of SE themselves, is that the USB ports seem to be somewhat lacking in power output for both ports combined.

Plugging in two USB 1.0 devices or one 1.0 and one 2.0 works perfectly. But plug in two USB 2.0 devices that require the power output of a USB 2.0 port and things start to go wrong.

I have the capacity to test numerous USB devices of multiple power requirements and have found that the USB capabilities of the PS4 is quite underpowered. Given those ports were never originally designed to supply huge quantities of power to power hungry devices like wired gaming mice and full size elite gaming keyboards all at the same time. Charge two Dualshock 4's is really what they were originally intended to do and do well.

So the ability to use a keyboard and mouse is just a bonus feature and not a main design of the PS4.

So my advice to anyone running into power supply problems for their USB devices on the PS4, is to get a POWERED USB hub and plug it into the PS4. Even if you only have two devices you need plugged in.
