Q: Where did the original poster attend college? I enjoy teaching and your information is incorrect. Do you care about the accuracy of information? I do. The correct information is here:

    "Take care (of yourself).
    'Take care'
    1. Good-bye and keep yourself healthy. John: I'll see you next month. Good-bye. Bob: Good-bye, John. Take care of yourself. Mary: Take care. Sue: Okay. See you later.
    2. Take care of your health and get well. Mary: Don't worry. I'll get better soon. Sue: Well, take care of yourself. Bye. Jane: I'm sorry you're ill. Bob: Oh, it's nothing. Jane: Well, take care of yourself.

    take care (of yourself) (spoken)
goodbye, take it easy, was nice talking with you, was nice talking to you, take care, good-bye, she said to him, take care of yourself.
Usage notes: usually said as part of ending a conversation"

Talk about the high and mighty missing the point.

Auto-translate terms show up in English for us, Japanese for the JP. That's the point.

He's saying the auto-translate term "Take care" when shown in JP refers to a warning, as in "take precautions", not what you suggest.

I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

    It's spelled "You're welcome."

+1 to OP. In french the translation is "Faites attention", something like "Be Careful" in english.

You didn't get your money's worth.

On topic: What I thought was an innocent farewell may have a more unsettling and sinister meaning? Fantastic!

Still not as good as FFXI's examine translate.

What appeared innocently to English players as "Name examines you." in JP it was basically stalker-ish and rapey.

Edit: BACK ON TOPIC...a better alternative to use would be <Have a safe journey.>
