No thanks. I have enough of a time sink just getting through the daily stuff. a bunch of boring travel time and I wouldn't have the time to do the things I want to do.
Like what? Using the duty finder? I forgot how much traveling that involves. Be real. None of us level 50s travel much at all.
That was my reaction too when I realized I had made a horrible error... HE COULD GET HIT AND HEAVIED THUS INCREASING HIS TRAVEL TIME BY AS MUCH AS 20 SECONDS!
Sorry OP but in light of this 5 min 20 second travel time To get from one end of a continent to the other I have to disagree with this idea.
Imagine the horror if they made airship travel a thing like in XI... You would be forced to, gasp, WAIT on an airship and you may even be HARASSED by those pesky players also waiting to have a CONVERSATION!
This idea sounds like an anime called "Log Horizon". after a certain calamity happened, all the teleporters are down and the adventurers are forced to travel by foot or by Flying mounts. The flying mounts also had stamina and once depleted could not be used for 24 hours. Enough about that though.
For the malfunction of the Aetheryte Crystals to work, the world really would need to be bigger. Not just the world itself, but the areas in general. As someone else said, the loading screen every 45 seconds is pretty lame.
5 minutes of time sink that would be completely useless and arbitrary, so yeah. No thanks.
How about these ideas?
- Put in a 30 minute CD for dungeons once you complete one. You have to stay logged in or the duration doesn't count down.
- Make it to where crafting takes 10 minutes per item. If you make a HQ item, your character gets locked into a victory dance that last for an additional 10 minutes.
- Make there be one central MB/Retainer area that can only be accessed by traveling to each corner of the world and clicking a special node on each. You then get to travel to the direct center and enter the special, super duper market board area. You then have 5 minutes to do your business before being ejected. After a 24 hour CD, you can restart from scratch.
- Make it to where you can be knocked off your chocobo easily and enemies never stop chasing you.
These sound good? I mean, time sinks are good, am I right?

A. have been a thing or
B. wouldn't hurt anyone?
30 min lockout on dungeons? sure why not there is no reason to spam them in the world of "do 4 dungeons a week to max everything!
Mobs never stop chasing? The term "train" was used in MMOs for a reason.
10 minutes per item? Sure this one would actually increase the value and make it so not everyone and their mother maxed all crafts and crashed the economy
So the only one you proposed that would actually be dumb (which was sadly your attempt with all of these) would be the MB idea. Though 1 market zone where all commerce must be done in the player economy? Sure.
Oh my gosh you are so right! Why didn't I think of that?! If I'm clearly not enjoying the end game grind on one character at level 50, surely I'd love to do it some more on another!
And for the record, I have all the classes I am interested in at 50.
