It does, but I tend to dislike things that try and force community upon people by making another aspect completely inconvenient. Also, the way I read it the OP threw the whole event thing in as an afterthought, and the point was more to disable teleporting and less-so about an event (I could be wrong). There are a lot of community events that could be implemented without the need to render a portion of the game completely frustrating in order to get people to attend. People should be attending the events not out of obligation (to get back a feature they once had an enjoyed) and more because the event itself is fun. If SE needs to take away something people enjoy and dangle it as a reward for event completion in order to get people to attend, maybe they ought to re-think the event itself instead.
