I would flat out quit if teleporting was removed. Too many quests have you running laps around the world as-is, along with almost every event. Auto-run + alt-tab doesn't make for a fun game.

Questing is like participating in an Old Spice Commercial - Talk to me, talk to him, talk to me, talk to him, Now Talk To Me...Sadly, you are not done, back to him, look there, its that mob I never liked, back to me, back to him...I'm in the Waking Sands.
But where would we return to when we die?!
SE should let mobs take over certain spots like camps if enough / certain FATEs fail, like when all the Aevis are swarming Dragonhead, players should then have to take back the camp by fighting the mobs off before anyone on the server can teleport to or from there, or use the amentities, could also increase the number of adds around the camp and have other damaging effects to the other areas of the map
Not a fan of this idea, as I travel between all three main city-states multiple times a day, depending on what I am doing. If it took that much effort to travel between them, I would probably do one or two things a day and then not play until I felt like traveling again, which could take a while. I think SE would end up losing subs.
I wouldnt mind another "Atomos" event, and have him suck the aether out of the crystals again. It'll be fun for those who didnt get to experiance it :P
I'd be all for this if there was enough out there to explore.
Open world travel is made interesting by the sights you see and the tricks you pick up to make your travel more efficient/fun!
But what we've got now is not really a world but a small handful of maps, each of which boils down to a few painfully short roads and some small pockets of "wilderness" scattered about.
This makes travel less like a fun little journey, and more like a walk down a country driveway where the biome changes every 2-3 minutes (after a bit of a black-out ofc) and anything that is too far from the path is either blocked off with a waist-high pile of rocks that is impossible to scale, or the edge of existence itself.
I think taking away quick travel will do an even worse job at making the world feel big, because we'll be constantly reminded of how small the world actually is!
(This is coming from a person who regularly has no-teleport weeks)
I like exploring things in games, but in MMO's it's never felt rewarding or fun. Walking alone through an empty area, largely void of players, just whacking at mobs that happen to be there just to get from point A to point B always felt dull, boring and time I could spend having fun. For people who like to do that, they still can (just don't use teleports), but I don't always have a ton of time to spend online and on those days I'd rather use the little time I have doing something fun in the game, not meandering along trail to get to the fun.
Exploration was a large part of Guild Wars 2, but after a while it came to feel like a boring, monotonous chore. There were open world dungeons, but people rarely did them. There are tons of events, but there's rarely anyone else wandering around in the same area to do them with. Everyone would end up funneled farming, doing dungeons or other instanced content, off in PvP, or chatting and RPing in the major cities (and sometimes in the world). I couldn't imagine doing everything I did in that game without Waypoints (teleportation) available after discovering them... it'd make getting to large events a pain, it'd take an annoying amount of time to go from one section of the world to the other if your guild had something planned in the Shiverpeaks and you, unfortunately, logged out for the night after a run of Arah and then have to fight through six or seven zones to get there.
I find exploration and lack of teleporting more fun in single player games, where you come across events, ruins, temples full of fun, interesting ways to develop your character or that contain interesting armor that holds a lot of lore to it, or something more like that. Going on adventures while traveling.
Sitting on a boat for five minutes basically afk is neither an adventure nor is it fun.
The maps are so incredibly tiny and trivial, walking isnt even remotely interesting. Sometimes i just set my movement mode to walking instead of running and just enjoy the scenery when i go from point A to B :/ It's kinda pointless to be worried about teleports being taken away when you can get anywhere in the world in under 5 minutes time.
I like this idea. And while we're in the business of trolling players I think we should implement a movement fatigue system for both players and chocobos. Sure, you can ride your chocobo around but after a certain point they get tired of carrying your heavy butt around and you automatically dismount and can't ride a mount again for an hour. Then you have to hoof it. Of course, wearing all that heavy armor or being a nerdy caster eventually tires you out as well. Then you're hit with a hour long heavy that only decreases if you're standing completely still. An hour you can be spending to admire the environment!
Obvious joking aside, a world event where something did cause this to happen would be interesting. I do feel like this game needs fun world events from time to time that players can actually influence.
