    3. Windows Phone is a mobile OS, and is essentially a rework of the older Windows Mobile OS in response to Android and IOS. It runs your standard mobile apps (eg twitter, facebook, instagram, etc). These are not desktop or tablet tools. The largest Windows phone device is 6" (Nokia Lumia 1520).

If they ever made it available I would use the Libre apps, but I would not use the token as I primarily use my phone for games and business (office/outlook) at work. SE does have a few games out for the phone. I also don't know of any phones that are Steam compatible.

So there has clearly been some misunderstandings. That is probably an issue with the smaller but growing market size, and that everything is called Windows.
Windows RT is a framework, it is used on windows phone 8(which is windows CE based, WP7 is similar but I'm uncertain if it uses the RT framework or not) and on tablets, and its also the modern apps for windows desktop, in effect they are trying to make it so most windows RT apps work on windows desktops as well as their phones and tablets.

many of the WP8 apps already work on windows 8(8.1) with little to no modifications. microsoft did this on purpose because they are afraid they will be left behind if they dont take action

hope this clears things up for you. you should also note that many of the windows RT apps are planned to be usable on the xbox one

That thins it literally identical to the one my bank gave me, save for the colors.
Beside, why should you have to bring it with you at all times in the first place?

I started with a Nokia Lumia 928 and have since upgraded to a Nokia Lumia 1520. To me, it makes sense to have the software token created for this platform. Until it is made, (if ever), I'll have to continue to use the hardware keyfob.

I hate this stupid thing and want to go back to my Android.
The app selection is terrible. Mostly just cheap ripoffs of other boring apps. Whenever I go out and see a useful app, it's always for the other systems.

Soon as the contract is over, I am dumping this phone OS for good. Hardly worth it just to have a decent camera on my phone.

Just want to give this thread a bump, as I'd still love to see an authenticator application for Windows Phone.

Wand what is the fact, that you know how it works?

    Srsly, get a real token,

    WHY you ask?

Problems phone have that real tokens have not, or at least less. Be it iOS, Android or windows phones.

Sofware crashes somehow wiping all apps.
Phone being submerged in some kind of liquid, damaging it beyond repair. (it can happen to the real token too, but the sticker on the back helps you to remove it from your account with the hotline)
    Phones still get stolen.
Your battery dies and you have no charger with you because of, whatever.

I had one on my iPhone, with EVERY system update and app update I had to remove the token from the system and add the new one.

It would be nice if they just used a generic authenticator. Windows Phone DOES have one of those, from Microsoft proper, which uses the same algorithm as Google's generic auth. I used it for Wildstar. Wildstar said to use Google's authenticator or their own proprietary one, but I instead used the Microsoft one with success.

SE using their own only is odd to me. I should be able to use the Google/Microsoft one in its place.

Advantages a phone app has over the hardware version:

An emergency reset password in case you no longer have access to the app any more. Not sure there is such a thing for the hardware version

Well, this sucks a big pile...

Looks like I'll be holding on to my old iPhone to use as a token device. Sigh...........

And yes, the generic authenticator from google worked great for Wildstar. I'm sure the Windows phone one would too...
