Because it is what it is. I dont oppose anything. If SE wants to make the app for every phone OS available thats up to them. However for whatever reason they decided it was only worth developing for Android and Apple yet made the physical key as an alternate option for those that dont. Not only is having the extra security free and optional, but they offer options on how to use it. Despite what these "programmers" in this thread say there are likely other resources and costs associated with supported other platforms as well. Not to mention how I suspect theyre likely wrong, if something was so easy to port its probably not a very secure or unhackable program.

As for the token, it is a small device that can be attached to your keys (another thing youre likely to carry around everywhere) and weighs much less than a smartphone. You can always leave your token near your computer as well, its not like youre likely to play FFXIV everywhere you go.
