My suggestion is nothing because current content just isn't appealing. And in order to keep you subbed they would need to fix things, and add to what we already have. Bringing back past elements for example. As things are now I feel we no one can do anything except reiterate what they like vs what they don't like which is one big ol' stalemate. Believe me when I tell you, yours and others wants are not unrealistic and I get you.

I don't roleplay myself, but I have to admit that they have a lot of creative ideas of things to do involving the game's structure. I'm also not recommending that you roleplay or not to entertain yourself, however if you want to see some interesting ideas about the game, it wouldn't be the worst place to look.
You can't compare this game to a real sandbox game because you can role play. Role playing can be done in every single restrictive theme park MMO. Is WoW comparable to sandbox games because you can role play? Is Guild Wars 2 as well? You talk about players making their own content in games like GTA and Minecraft and say people should try it in this game, but you continue to list activities that you can do in any old game. I'm not even sure if you realize why games like this are popular. Minecraft wasn't picked at random by creative gamers to try and mold an interesting creative experience from it. It provides the tools necessary to be creative, and so it became popular as a result. Your insinuation is the complete opposite, in that "players did it with games like Minecraft, so we should do it with this game too!" except that this game provides nothing of the sort, and the suggestions you've made so far are either mundane (kill mobs for no reason...really -_-) or something that can be done in absolutely any interactive video game, web forum or pen and paper RPG, role playing.

WoW was sandboxy in it's early years. You actually had to go out and explore to do things. Now though you can access everything from within a city (like in XIV).

Right there. OP just doesn't seem to get it. It's okay to like the game, it's nothing wrong with that. What I don't get is why the people they do like the game, act as if the people that don't, are wrong for being bored. I'm pretty positive that a lot of people have tried a lot of things before they came to the conclusion that they are bored with the game. So why go through the whole; have you maxed all of this? And this? Pretty sure they tried it, pretty sure they didn't like it. ._. Why do things you don't like? (Not YOU specifically but, ya know people in general.)

    Link?

So what you're saying is that right now, at this moment there are weapons on the market board that you've never seen right? Are they over i70? Because if they aren't then why mention them? Pre end game is not worth it since people are spamming dungeons to level, dungeon gear is just every where. If they aren't spamming dungeons then they are fate grinding, GC gear. If they are questing (which few do) quests give out gear too. No need to farm dungeons to sell gear. Because people are farming dungeons to just wear it.

I'm going to say this is sarcasm? My point was that since the game is so easy in a matter of a few weeks the market board will be flooded with whatever new craft-able items they are going to add. But all of it goes back to my previous point why even bother selling anything, whats to buy?

What kills me is people still tossing this crap around. How long has it been since launch? We're almost 6 months from launch and people are still telling others to slow down and stop rushing to endgame! The only ones that I would say that wouldn't be at any end game content would be super casual players, Who just started like 2 months ago if that. With Duty Roulette it super fast to level to 50, it took me 3 weeks of doing Low Level Roulette/Guildheist to level from 30-50 and nothing else. So unless someone is super casual playing like 5hrs a week then that Rushing to End Game crap needs to go out the door.....

As for the OP FFXIV is still a Monday Game! Login on Monday do Coils, Some CT, finish Myth..... I've run out of stuff that I WANT TO DO. I even started leveling all my jobs to 50, Even though I said I wasn't just going to. I'm not a legacy player, I have 2 jobs left and they are lvl30+. So its not just legacy players that are bored.

Are things going to change for this game? Nope! SE thinks they know what they are doing and they don't. I enjoy this game to a certain point. I enjoy doing CoB, I love Crystal Tower, I like doing HM dungeons. But all this leads to is.... Weekly Caps=crap Crafting=crap Materia=crap Companion=crap PVP=crap Primals=crap. Yes there are things to do but not everyone finds them fun to do.

As for 2.2 Content I'm looking forward to it. But how long will that content last until it burns out? When SE does away with Week Long Lockouts on new content then maybe people will feel like they have more to do. But until then, This game will always be a Monday game. It sucks too, Cause this game has so much potential.

What they need to do. Lower lockouts to 72hrs on new content, Make crafting relevant, End Game Gear that we use Materia on, PVP is still lol just want the frontlines gear, Open world content, Real NMs and tons of other stuff.

It wasn't a fair comparison before, I understand that, as any MMO is much more restrictive. However, the idea was, nothing is stopping you from going wherever and doing whatever even with some of the tools the game gives you. RPer's go beyond the idea that you are restricted by certain tools, and look at their environment as a way to come up with interesting ideas. Again, I'm not suggesting RPing as a main form of entertainment, but that the point of this thread is to come up with out-of-the-box ideas within the construct of the game, which I feel they do.

For clarity: I've just seen some events RPer's do that use the game's tools (housing, environment, etc) to put on public events open to anyone (even non-RPer's) to participate that were really interesting.

Yes. Just go to the market board and look. I don’t remember what ilvls, but there was a weapon for each class all meldable/repairable by alchemy only. I went to my crafting log (50 alc) and didn’t see anything.

On top it off, there are also potions (vit/str/etc) that were available, but no entry on my log to research mats.

I don’t understand why you say this.

And as far as the “blue fox hides”. It wasn’t someone saying “I heard there is such and such” it was “I need to do another map to get 2 more…….blue fox hides?????”. They were asking which map yielded the mat.

Do you know anything about this? You seem rather bright to me.

The current state of the game is actually pretty clear cut -

If you're purely a hardcore raider, this isn't the game for you.
If you're primarily interested in PvP, this isn't the game for you.
If you care nothing for crafting/gathering... this game might still work for you.
... but if you also aren't interested in anything else extra (chocobo/achieves/jobs/random completion), then this probably isn't the game for you.

Now we obviously expect to see more content in expansions, and hopefully more then just more of the same. More dungeons, more raids, more levels... etc. These we expect, but we look forward to different things. The first expansion will really set the bar for what the future will be in XIV.

I'm content with what we currently have, but I know I'll finish everything that 'I' care about eventually. That might eventually include Binding Coil, but not until it ejects the 'static' group style.

Really though, the way that I continue to enjoy the game so much is by playing other games alongside it. Some variety keeps things fresh far longer then anything one MMO could add to itself.
