For the record, I don't entirely relate to the $15 a month because I'm Legacy Status and don't use more than 1 character, so I could very well be biased. $15 is admittedly a bit a hefty, but I do think you are getting more out of what you are paying for than you may think, is all.

My point was less about the money and more about what's offered in terms of creativity. I wouldn't expect people looking for a creative experience to download FF14 if it were free. You're comparing it to a game like Minecraft that has endless possibilities in terms of creativity, where you can let your imagination run wild and spend days creating something unlike anything that anyone else ever has. Nothing in FF14 has even the tiniest shred of what a real sandbox game offers in terms of exploration or creativity.

This design philosophy becomes painfully clear when you look at XIV's housing system. When I think of MMO housing, I think of an opportunity to individualize, to create, to explore a range of options, to build things not seen before, to show off the extent of your design powers and your achievements - but that's exactly the opposite of what we get in XIV. The entire system is not only blocked off by a massive paywall (so far - who knows what it'll be like for personal housing), but it's shackled by extremely limited customization. Your large house is going to look just like the large house of someone else, plus or minus a few decorations. Exploration and creativity not wanted. :/

Thank you, but I was looking for something a little more outside of the box tbh. These have been mentioned before, and some of them I mentioned myself in the original post.

    RE: Crafting/treasure maps.

I asked this in the other thread. Someone mentioned something about a “blue foxhide” I think it was. I also heard talk of other extremely rare mats from maps able to be used for vanity gear and/or housing. That’s something I’ll look into.

In addition to crafting, there are new weapons available on the marketboard along with some potions I’ve seen. I’m a level 50 alchemist, but cannot find these in my crafting logs.

Can anyone offer insight to this?

Because that's all the game offers, it doesn't offer anything out of the box. If I have to "make" fun in a game i'm paying to have fun in, with what it provides then the game sucks and is doing something horribly wrong. All those things I listed ARE the reasons I play mmorpgs.

There will be no extremely rare mats, it's a casuals game everything will be easily obtainable by everyone. Why would I craft anything other than the relic weapon? People craft that stuff then it sets there because there is no need to buy it. Yoshi said crafting with never be on par with dungeon drops when it comes to end game gear. Pre end game you have dungeon drops/GC gear all free why pay? Not to mention there's nothing to buy. An over priced house that offers nothing?

Then what are some of these things I keep seeing in linkshell chat? I'm almost positive it was a "blue fox hide"??? I seen a couple other things come up about them, but for the life of me, I can't remember them. I apologize. I'm 99% sure they were for vanity only stuff, but me and my bud were always into that anyway. Something else I was gonna suggest was making a "skinny jean tank" xD.

Just because someone says something, doesn't mean it's true. From the way this game is set up and going everything will be easily obtainable. The market board will be flooded with whatever drop you're talking about and those mirage prism (not sure if thats what they are called) things. Since everyone can craft anything and there's no fail rate. Which goes back to my point of why craft anything to sell in the first place when there is nothing to buy.

This thread was for throwing out suggestions to the people that or bored right? I'm waiting.

I think we'll just have to agree to disagree here. The only reason I say that is because of one major sign of creativity and imbued interest in the game: Roleplayers. Say what you will, they always continue to astound me with their knowledge of lore and execution of events. I don't roleplay myself, but I have to admit that they have a lot of creative ideas of things to do involving the game's structure. I'm also not recommending that you roleplay or not to entertain yourself, however if you want to see some interesting ideas about the game, it wouldn't be the worst place to look.

You can't compare this game to a real sandbox game because you can role play. Role playing can be done in every single restrictive theme park MMO. Is WoW comparable to sandbox games because you can role play? Is Guild Wars 2 as well? You talk about players making their own content in games like GTA and Minecraft and say people should try it in this game, but you continue to list activities that you can do in any old game. I'm not even sure if you realize why games like this are popular. Minecraft wasn't picked at random by creative gamers to try and mold an interesting creative experience from it. It provides the tools necessary to be creative, and so it became popular as a result. Your insinuation is the complete opposite, in that "players did it with games like Minecraft, so we should do it with this game too!" except that this game provides nothing of the sort, and the suggestions you've made so far are either mundane (kill mobs for no reason...really -_-) or something that can be done in absolutely any interactive video game, web forum or pen and paper RPG, role playing.

WoW was sandboxy in it's early years. You actually had to go out and explore to do things. Now though you can access everything from within a city (like in XIV).
