A parser wouldn't exclude anyone from content, part of the game is learning to play the class/job you are on. If your group can't do enough damage on Garuda Extreme to down the sisters each tornado phase, you will never get to Titan or Ifrit Extreme, the only thing a parser would do is show your group who isn't pulling their weight. Your argument is like saying, "I fought Garuda, and I tried really hard, but I didn't get the win, but I'm paying the same per month as the people that know what they are doing, so Titan needs to be unlocked for me."
I am not saying i agree with it, I was merely stating why a segment of players will always be against parsers.
Choosing DPS over survival would mean they would die, do 0 DPS and next-to-nothing DPS with 1 minute of weakness, and this would show with a DPS meter. I understand what your concern is, but that's not how a DPS meter works.Given the excessively large population of people playing this game who think high dps is more important than everything else, to include dodging, pulling the adds of the healer, etc I can say with absolute certainty that giving people an application that would allow them to see how much dps they're doing would only lead to even more problems with people choosing dps over survival.
I have nothing against parser addons/features, I just don't like the wankers that use them.
I LIKE the fence. I get 2 groups to laugh at then.
That's why I called it an era, a period of time. I'm not saying that it would be a permanent deal, I'm simply pointing out that there would be a period of time in game where people are so focused on trying to be top dps that I will probably not be playing healer for anyone outside my fc unless I have to. They will learn, but if there's one thing you can count on with pugs in FXIV it's that they have a bad habit of being hard headed.
You need to see a therapist.Because there's no point to it. You can judge by someones gear if they can potentially put out enough damage or not. Actually being able to measure that will do nothing short of shunning people or having it be used as a reason to attack or exclude people.
So no. Not only would i not want this in the game. I'd like everyone who does use programs like that to be dragged out of their houses and be executed infront of their families. Or at the very least banned from the game over it.
It will just make an already hostile and toxic endgame more of a disaster.
"LFM serious Ruda EX farm. Lowest DPS kicked and replaced every wipe."
That's why. Parsers turn folks into raging morons.
Just wait for addons to be implemented. Someone will likely make one then. The reason why the current one is against the ToS is because it's a third party program.
Who are the morons, the people that make those groups or the ones that join them? If you don't want to get stuck in a group like that, don't join, at least they would put it in party finder so you can decide not to even interact with that person. People that are afraid of parsers are just like those that wear tanking jewelry on black mage, or dps in fists of earth on monk, they know they know they can't survive the mechanics, or in the case of a parser know they don't have grasp enough of their class/job, that they do anything to try to hide that fact and hope the rest of the group can make up for them.
